There won't be any news for a good long while, Runic have already stated that the MP is *at least* 18 months away from the SP release.

Torchlight Retail READNFO-ViTALiTY
This is the RETAIL boxed edition of Torchlight
and not a homemade iso or preview build.
The difference is quite clear as ONLY RETAIL
gets a bonus pet the Ferret as well as the
the full editor on a DVD. Install the optional
editor seperately after the main game setup.

previous patches were whole game.. and retail patches are just as big 415 mb~ i wonder if you even need vitality release or you just can download patch aka patched game install.. and use it.. since previous skidrows releases would uninstall before installing again
( and no those werent homemade isos ) those were same installs on the website just with crack in same rar

Why the ViTALiTY version is 1.16GB in size? when the full game is 300MB?

cos it has game installer which is 800mb and editor installer which is 300mb or so. game installer is 800mb cos it contains directx and c++ redists etc. installed and updated to 1.15 game is 430mb

Half a million copies sold, they were also bought up by the Chinese MMO company Perfect World.
(Probably to work more on the MMO version of the game which is driven via micro transactions and that seems popular over there, guess they kinda compete with Hellgate and that other MMO before Hellgate now though as both are being developed further via Hanbisoft.)

Well torchlight was simply made as a teaser game to some MMO they were/are going to put out, but it turned out to be a decent and fun RPG, lets hope they ditch the MMO bullshit and make some real games.

I'd hardly call them an Indie developer, with two of the three founders of Blizzard North at the helm, a staff of more than 25 and Matt Uelmen (main dude for the D1 and 2 soundtracks) for the sound 
The micro transaction driven thing we knew about long ago though, and quite frankly, I don't give a damn 
I enjoyed Torchlight, I just want an MP version of it to play with my mates, so we don't have to fall back to D2 every time we get bored of everything else

Love it. The games are completely playable without the microtransactions, at least in Korea.
But I don't gotta pay a dime and I got tons of games to play for free.
They've also been bringing over some western games. Battlefield Online, Company of Heroes, EA sports tosses the odd game over here (FIFA, NBA Street)

So basically the game is pretty successful of an investment on their part. I bought the game on day one, so I hope they make more games like torchlight.
