I know, that's what I'm thinking. I've finished the game today and honestly, except for a couple of things that weren't fully explained, it was pretty consistent. I'm just wondering what others have found.

I'm gonna wait till its in the second hand bin, I rekon this is going to be good but not great, demo was good more food for thought, I think the gameplay may be limited though.

WOW
The origami puzzle in the box is awesome!
I have never done Origami before and hope that the completed piece ties into the game somehow..........

boy this game is intense!!! Spoiler: | I was playing the part where the main character takes his son Shaun to the park...and I am playing, with this feeling that he is gonna disappear soon, so I keep running to the swing, seesaw and rushing back tot the bench to make sure he is still there...and finally at the carousel, as the character starts blacking out, I am like "oh no, not now dammit"...it was like I was somehow responsible for the events, and that kinda involvement I have never felt in a video game!!!! |

Quantic are really getting close to dream 'movie' interactivity.
Your ability to change viewpoints, move and interact is incredible, the actual 'cut scenes' are 'just' really part and parcel of the in-game engine, you really DO feel like you are participating in a film and most importantly with no delays of any kind once you gain an understanding of the control system.
The characters feel more much more real than their movie counterparts and the locations more how can I put it atmospheric.
I wouldn't mind checking out that cartoon on the tv!

Yeah that was a nice touch, doing some origami whilst the game installs
Quote: | is this game really worth it |
If you like the old-school adventure games, weren't disgusted by the approach Fahrenheit took in 'modernising' them, and like great games... then yeah - it's well worth getting. I'm loving every minute of it personally. The argument for it being emotional isn't hot air either, and the range of emotions is really quite broad for a videogame.
The haters will hate, and they'll pick holes and do their best to denigrate it... but this is a fantastic game and like the quote on the front of the box says, it's; "unlike anything else you'll play this year". So it's a unique experience at that.

I saw that too - the internet recommended not to download it because they experienced skipping and freezing with it (allegedly anyway). I've been playing fine without it so it's up to you, but since they didn't seem to list any bug fixes I'd say it's alright to skip for now and see what's what later on.

I received my copy today and played like 3 hours straight already.
I love it so far.
-edit
I'm playing with the update and experienced no issues.
There's a Heavy Rain Chronicles available in my extras menu, so maybe that's what this patch was for.
