It just goes to show you how important passiveness is in MMA. A lot of people think this sport is all about aggression, and that aggression is what wins the fight. While it will help you to be aggressive and give in to ... for lack of a better word: anger, you lose technique and fall back on rudimentary striking.
In this fight it definitely didn't work out for Nightmare who always is extremely passionate in his style of fighting. I think he chose the wrong approach for fighting B.J. - he needed to do it Couture-style and make a solid game plan with a lot of contingencies and stick to it. Instead he chose to go all-in on heart/adrenaline and hope for the best (that's what it looked like to me, with maybe the exception to try and use kicks).
All the champions, with the exception of Brock rely on their composure and ability to be tactical. To defeat them a fighter needs to hone their aggression and do the same thing.
This by the way is why I think Mir has champion potential (again) too.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

You could see the cut forming on his head in slow-mo after that high-kick by BJ, split his head in two.
All in all BJ showed better boxing, kicking and everything else.

Glad to see Cung back in the cage, Smith is going to get tooled + curious what Jacare will do with Lindland

Got back late from work yesterday and caught SF and WEC's last fights, and those were very good fights. Great come back by Smith, like ChinUP said he was getting tooled (those spin kicks were beautiful), but Le was noticeably very tired.
Cerrone vs Ratcliff was good, but very one sided. You could feel it was a matter of time before he would get Ratcliff. He almost submitted Ed at the end of the second, that was a deep RNC.
Overall pretty good mainevents, will try to catch the rest of the cards later.

Cung looked like a tourist in there unbelievable such a great talent spent. Props to Smith for pulling out the W, he deserved the win Cung was just prating about. Jacare maneuvered his way around Lindland without catching much damage. If he keeps building his stand up game @ this pace he is going to be a real force to reckon with. I really cant stand Lindland for some reason, the only thing I respect him for is his standing up to the UFC in regards to their alleged illegal management + promotion of fighters. According to Lindland its been illegal for promoters to manage fighters since the 50's.

Yeah good call wtf happened in the third, Silva could have finished it but was too tired I guess for the finishing blow.
Daly can really punch, I'm hoping he fights GSP somewhere down the line.
Other matches not really interesting, UFC 110 will be something else, can't wait for that one.

Overall it was pretty decent show, its just it looked more like a fight night than a ppv.
Daely can certainly punch but it wasnt like he was fighting a world class kickboxer, Hazzlet looked out of place and should have went for takedowns immediately. He was standing in front of Daley, what did he think was going to happen.
Lauzon looked tired as hell, but still, the supposedly "hands of stone" couldnt knock him out or really hurt him.
And that Thiago's dancing was just freaking weird. He hurt Rashad pretty good but decided to dance instead of finishing him.
Guess it will take a few more fights for Rashad to get his confidence back before he starts to strike again.

Today's card looks good. Though I think the main event will be a snoozer, and more like a quick cash in rather than a meaningful bout, even though there are talks of the winner getting the title shot (which im guessing they are banking on Randy winning, and doing another quick cash in).

Man Sonnen really is a good fighter. I was expecting Nate just to brush him off and go fight Silva again. But he had nothing on Sonnen expect for like 1 min at the end of the 3rd.
And it was a great fight card, lets just hope no undeserved title shots in the near future.

Sonnen was amazing, he really is at the best period of his career, he deserves a title shot.
Coleman needs to retire, lmao. Randy has got some fight left in him, but no title shots to him PLEASE.
Rolles Gracie was unready for the UFC, they brought him in too early. I'm surprised they replayed that fight in the PPV.
Also, WAR SERRA !!! That should send Trigg packing for good. gtfo
Thiago's sub was excellent ! Good standup, too, I'm disappointed at Swick, he's lost his touch.

WtF kind of sub did Thiago use ? His arm wasn't even around the neck ! Was it some kind of double fist lock over the trachea similar to the sub used by Fedor on big Tim ?

Great card can't wait!
Cro Cop's opponent Rothwell is out with an injury, his replacement is some Aussi BJJ specialist, some other guy was supposed to fill in (not a bad name) bad he couldn't get a work permit on such a short notice so they had to go with an Aussie.

I got Cain by dominating decision. Should be a good card.
The Daddy is also a sure bet.

I got 8 out of 9 predictions right, and won money on Velasquez. Damn, that was dominant. Great UFC. Loved to see Bisping get knocked down at third round.

Awesome event ! I was surprised by Sotiropoulos, I didn't expect that !
Crocop was actually aggressive, Bisping got eat up, good stuff !!!
Not to mention Cain's fast hands ... great stuff, he didn't have to use his wrestling at all !
The crowd was excellent, too, everything was perfect actually, I really enjoyed it !

I thought Bisping was better, really a great all around fighter lost because of the last 10 seconds when he got knocked down.
One of the better events for me, last fight not that good it was over too soon, Velasquez should get a tittle shot now it's about bloody time.
Would like a torrent of the preliminaries though

I guess we were watching two different fights.
Aggression ... was he the one attacking? No.
Strikes ... while Bisping had some crisp counter-striking and at least once rocked Silva, Silva fired his guns a lot more, and landed a lot more.
Octagon control ... again, Bisping was trying to avoid Silva most of the fight, with some exceptions (his takedowns in the first round).
I really think this cemented Bisping as more of a sort of gate keeper, than a title contender. Anyone who can beat him gets to the upper tier.
Yes, yes I'm back.

Jardine took some good shots and didn't go dows, despite his usually weak chin. He actually did pretty good, but Bader is better. He just needs to improve his conditioning and his top control (Bader)
So I guess Sotiropoulos with that dominating W is now a title contender ? I like him, but I thought Joe was gonna win that !
Mirko is good when he is the aggressor. When someone holds his ground, the tables are turned. Also, Cain is too short to take Brock down, are you crazy ?
