Played mostly 32v32 maps in BF2 and planes "worked" there well. I think in 16v16 maps like ones in BF:BC2 planes are not needed and would impact gameplay in negative way. There are just too "few" players and maps are to small.

I miss prone too. It is just one option more and i don't like when they (devs) are limiting options. Dont remember that it ever decided outcome in BF2 and also "diving" thing could have been solved somehow.

I think they removed the prone also just to get rid of "Dolphin Diving" Most annoying aspect of any FPS. You just cant hit that target

Also had funny moment today when i typed ingame that C4 should be nerfed abit. One shotting everything is WAY too powerful. Someone told me to go back to MW2.... FAIL

Installed the beta, played for 15 minutes and uninstalled the beta.

My god, what are "good games" coming to these days.

Horrendous.

I had a few great games today, and loving the Beta so far, had more pure class action moments and hillarious moments in the few rounds I play each time I fire it up than in any other online game I have played in recent times.

I'm struggling to find what is so different about this BF game and other BF games. Are you saying you don't like BF games? Blasphemer.

Battlefield 3 will “blow everyone away,” says DICE founder

Quote:
Battlefield 3 will be pretty good, according to ex-DICE CEO Fredrik Liljegren.

Speaking in an interview with Gaming Union, Liljegren – who now runs upstart Antic Entertainment after his former studio, DICE Canada closed - said the upcoming shooter will “blow everyone away”.

“Well I knew that they were going to the console route because the numbers on the PC where dwindling. I know what they were talking about on the PC side for [the next] Battlefield, and they haven’t announced any of that yet, after three years, so I know what’s coming, and I still can’t talk about it because I’m still under NDA,” he said.

“What the PC version is going to be, Battlefield 3, I think it’s going to absolutely blow everyone away, but I can’t tell you what it is, but it will blow people away.”

He also took a pop at Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare juggernaut, saying the threequel won’t be anywhere near it.

“That’s why it’s going to blow people away, because it’s not Modern Warfare 2 PC, it’s not that experience.”

Former EA COO John Pleasents confirmed last year that BF3 was in development, although no more was said then that.

No confirmed date yet.

So how many of you guys think its bullc*** and will be a console port? I'm too scared to hype up, but i dream about a real PC 512player BF Very Happy

loved battlefield 2. Looking forward to it if they keep to their principles and at least try to make their game like a PC game and not just a port.

Am I the only 1 cynical enough to read that as:

"We can pump out any old crap and you'll be blown away anyways because it's not MW2"

The new patch just made it even better. Now you don't get all the rage moments when firing 50 bullets in the back of someone and nothing happens Very Happy

Can't wait to play some of the other maps to see if the chokepoints are as entertaining as they are on valdez

8 out of 10 dentists prefer zipfero to competing brands(fraich3 and Mutantius)!

I have one odd performance issue. If I set level of detail setting to medium (down form high), game feels much smoother, even though there's practically no FPS gain. And it feels a little sluggish on high, but there's no FPS drop.
I am curious what's retail gonna be like.

I don't know about 512, but 128 is definitely a possibility.

There is no technical difference between medium and high, as they didn't include high in the beta.

You can see the enemy´s nametag anywhere, like a wallhack.

I am really interested in this game, since mw2 turned out to bee a campfest.

I have three main questions:

1. Is there forced mouse acceleration or smoothing?
2. Is the field of view locked at anything less than 90? (aka is it a weak console port)
3. Is the only valid way to rack up some kills to camp? or is run and gun viable? I like unreal tournament, where if you stand still, you're dead, but I am ready to compromise (l4d2, tf2 or even CSS, but no less). I hate camping, it bores me to death, and that's what mw2 is.

Thanks for your answers in advance.

Not that I can remember.

In full game, you will be able to adjust your FOV (in beta this is not available for now).

It is possible to kill without camping, but you do want to hide from those snipers in the distance. Wink
