I fail to see how anyone can see it as a "dull" experience.

As a game, the gameplay is basic.. But as an experience its excellent. The story is good, atmosphere the best its gonna get this generation imo... Rapture is amazing. If you loved the first game you will like the second. It doesnt come quite as close to gaming perfection for me as the first did, but its a damn good attempt.

Give it a chance. After about 4-5 hours it really shines and the story takes some interesting twists and turns.

I don't know what's wrong with this game but it just seems like it's missing something to me. I can't put my finger on it.

I've played about 3 hours or so and I'm liking it a lot less than I liked the first (which bored me by the end). It seems to me that this game is nothing more than an expansion with no real innovation in terms of gameplay and over all I'm finding it to be quite a dull experience overall. I can't imagine that I'll finish this game any time soon.

i gotta agree too. i've put a few hours in and it just isn't doing much for me. i think what it is for me, and maybe others too is that you're a bigdaddy yet it seems as if 4 or 5 pistol bullets take you out. wtf? i even dropped the difficulty from hard to medium and i'm still taken out easily. yet i fought my first bigdaddy last night and it took all my rivet gun ammo so i stepped in close with the drill and it took almost a full tank of drill fuel to kill him. not to mention it took 4 first aid kits from being up close with him to stay alive. how come i'm not tough like that?

even though it seems ammo is plentiful it's like you run out in no time. it just seems to take way too much ammo to take out enemies. and fuel for the drill? c'mon... that's just fucking lame. not to mention by the time you get in close enough to kill a standard enemy with it they've already damn near killed you. so it's like every close attack with the drill is going to cost you at least 1 first aid kit.

i knew it was going to be either really good or really bad considering OXM gave it a 9.5

You're big daddy is underpowered no doubt. I don't know for sure but I figured that it had something to do with you being an "alpha" model. The original and much older versions were pussies it seems. Maybe, maybe not but either way he's weak as shit.

Slight spoiler...well, depending on who you are I suppose...but you later fight "Alpha" model Big Daddies and they are weak as shit. While they take a fair amount of shots to kill, they are a far cry from the behemoths that you regularly face. Also, the easiest way to kill most of them is use the Winter Blast plasmid: freeze their ass and either fire away or drill them in the face. Combine that with some Tonics that increase drill strength and headshots and you're a beast.

It's not impossible though. I hadn't thought of it until he posted the idea but I could see it happening.

I'm digging Bioshock 2.. yeah its harder, but I wanted a bit harder gameplay.

The graphics are all improved, and we bought our copy at Toys r us.. and got a $10 gift card, AND the Big sister/little sister figure set for free. (It's selling alone on ebay now for about $70!)

So I figure the game really cost us about $30.. and its a killer value for that money.

I tried the demo of Heavy Rain, but got bored of it in 10 minutes... 3 button press/holds to scoot past a dumpset? And a button press and controller shake for.. (wait for it) Using an asthma inhaler?

Talk about dull gameplay! Sheese!

2K Games Announces Extensive Downloadable Content for BioShock® 2

New Single Player And Multiplayer Additions Enrich The Rapture Experience By Adding A Wealth Of New Content And Features

Quote:
Monday 22nd February/...2K Games announced today an aggressive post-launch downloadable content plan for BioShock®2 that extends and enhances the single and multiplayer experiences by adding more glimpses into the award-winning world of Rapture. Downloadable content will be made available soon, beginning with the Sinclair Solutions Test Pack, available this March from the Xbox® LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows–LIVE for 400 Microsoft Points and from the PlayStation®Network for £3.19. Future expansions into the world of BioShock 2 are slated to arrive over the coming months and will continue to expand on the stories of the denizens of Rapture.

“The fans who waited in the snow, rain and cold for the midnight launch of BioShock 2 have spoken and their message is that Rapture still has many fascinating stories to tell,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Downloadable content is a key part of our efforts to continue to entice the fans that have made 2K a household name - we intend to deliver single and multiplayer content that respects and expands upon one of the greatest fictional worlds ever created.”

Sinclair Solutions Test Pack, the first of several planned downloadable packages, contains a number of customization features that will allow players to further their character’s development in BioShock 2’s multiplayer modes and provide a deeper multiplayer experience. The pack includes:

• Rank Increase to level 50 with Rank Rewards
• New playable characters Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca
• 20 new trials*
• A third weapon upgrade for each weapon
• Five additional masks*
*Some items are only available after a player achieves a rank of 41 or higher.

In the coming months, 2K Games will also be publishing downloadable extensions of the single player experience that provide new insight into the world of Rapture. These packages will include more narrative, new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed Utopia under the sea
