I like this game as well, allthough CoP seems better so far. One thing that is bugging me is that I am using quick load a lot and the game is not so quick reloading my game. I might have to hold this one off until I get a SSD...
Well, guess I'll ask here again since my other post was horribly ignored.
Wanted to buy SoC on Steam and realized it's not available to german customers. Anybody know a way to circumvent this and get the game nonetheless?
1.0006 was mostly MP related, also contained a exploit when playing online so it was withdrawn, most mods recommend 1.5 though can work with other versions, some patches change stuff not mentioned in the changelog but 1.0005 (Or 6) should be fully playable.
(Some older mods and content additions might not work but that's not a issue here.)
I played this a little when it was realeased but never made it far because of the bugs and some annoyances like enemies seeing you from miles away in complete darkness when I had my flashlight off and not moving in a bush. Same thing with Clear sky, homing hand grenades, not being able to repair etc etc.
Now I gave CoP a go a few days ago and completed it in a few days and I loved it. So now I was going to give probably both CS and this one another chance with mods, however its a jungle out there.
Seems the big ones for SoC is Complete, LURK and Oblivion lost and I need help and opinions to chose, preferable with motivations on why to chose that particular one.
Same goes for CS, need help to pick out a mod there as well.
I think Complete is the only major mod for CS. Not sure though but that's what i got installed and it great.
There are also CS Reloaded and Good Old Stalker mod(this one was supposed to be translated to English). I didn't try either, I just know that they're out there.
But CS Complete is probably the best CS mod out there.

OK, I guess this is the right thread to ask. I tried to play Shadow of Chernobyl 2 times, vanilla version patched with the last official patch. I didn't really get into it, but I want to try it again and if I do so, I will add some mods too. Now here comes the problem. I don't have any idea what mods are there for this game and which ones are worth installing. So I ask you guys to make me a list with the mods worth installing, patches and provide links to them if you can, making a tutorial if it's needed (which one to install first and stuff like that). Send me a pm if links are not allowed here

Complete 2009 is all you need for your first playthrough
I finally started to play Clear Sky(no modding, latest patch) unfortunately after finishing Call of Pripyat...omg what shitty scripted AI for a Faction Based game. They practically botched the best part.
Do the mods improve performance or degrade it?...I've been reading and looking at the screenshots and I'm willing to give the first one(SOC) a makeover.
