Yes, steam will take care of the rest. You got to make sure the folder name is exact of course.

No it needs Steam account information, can't connect to anything without this.
(And it can't use Steam, nor should it if you have a legit account, with modified EXE and _Api.dll file.)

What nice graphics? Textures are crappy and aliasing is bad as hell.

Not on my copy. Looks great to me - if you wanna see crappy textures and serious bad aliasing, go play the 360 version. I'm not even close to kidding mate. I cancelled my PC preorder from Play.com after playing the 360 version :\

I tested the PC one and was MORE than pleasantly surprised. Textures were a massive improvement and it no longer looks like I'm playing on 640x480 (unlike the 360) with jaggies so bad it gives you a headache.

Works flawlessly for me. Perfect performance, pretty visuals, no audio issues or crashes of any kind. 24bit/48Khz

Yeah, on easy/normal the Xenos move like they have arthritis - and they tend to just run towards you (ala; AVP2) Play on Hard! They're much faster and they leap from wall to wall, running along the walls and ceilings to get you.

I played on normal and the little fuckers would jump as soon as I aimed at them, a massive improvement over the "run straight at you" aliens of AvP 2.

I was playing on the one difficulty before the hardest (I think there are 4?). I always do it like that, but it is very easy. And don't want to star a new game for harder difficulty - it is not very interesting in the story department... Sad

LOL me too, this game is fuckin inflated and I bet it is it's best copyprotection. Surprised Probably one of the biggest downloads for me so far. 26% left. I hope is motherfucking worth it.
So tell me about its installer. So sid files are untouches steam files and the installer is custom RZR one? I heard rumors that L4D2's part of the copyprotection was different exes for different OS's. Is this true and does this game also has this too? Very Happy

I own the game but it won't allow legit play until Friday afternoon from the looks of it, tried Rev. and the AEM or what it's name was emulator but it didn't work, MiSteam and similar with a fake account won't work either as it detects EU region in that modified Steam window and thus the game is still locked. (And I run a beta version which isn't fully compatible with these current emulators.)

I ran both EXE files trough that CEG v.2 remover and after running winmerge (Filesize was identical.) it seems one byte or so was patched but I've no idea what it did.

I guess those .dmp files are self created error logs or "mini-dumps", those other files appear to be for Steam to use in offline mode or something, Steamworks related perhaps, I just delete them.

I did try multiplayer but it can't connect (Well obviously.) as it won't go trough Steam when cracked so it can't find anything to run trough which complicates things.

DX11 EXE did prove to be a bit unstable but from what I've read DX11 under DX11 hardware works much better, of course the Steam EXE is updated once already but it was just after the game got released so it might be what the crack is based on, still I can't test this. (Was trying to see if that sound issue got fixed by it and the DX11 as DX10 when running that exe had improved.) but I can't until Friday evening.

Sound frequency set properly?
(Was patched in the demo but the game itself had gone gold by then.)

For now (With the current crack at least, unsure if it's already patched in the Steam proper version.) you need to use 48 Khz at most although you can still use 24-bit for the soundcard settings. Smile

PostPosted: Wed, 17th Feb 2010 20:39    Post subject: Black screen
I get a black screen after running both .exe files and launcher.

Right after the Fox, Sega and Rebellion intro, I have a "loading" screen for 2 seconds. After that the screen stays black without any activity nor sound. I can still pop up the steam screen with Shift+Tab so it seems the game didn't crash. I use win Vista Ultimate 64 with a Geforce 8800 GTS with 196.21 driver, DirectX 11.0 and Physx 09.09.814

Advice anyone? Cheers.

Edit: Fixed the problem myyself. Seemed somthing went wrong copying the steam.api file from the crack.

I'm into the second mission of Marine campaign and have to say, this has so far been an Aliens and Pred fans dream game. Haven't even tried the other 2.

Pretty certain I'll be buying this. Smile

It's not without a few tech problems though, but it you are a fan of the films, you definately have to check this out.

By running the DX11 exe without DX11 support. It will fall back to DX10 and maybe the whole thing will even fall on its ass before you even start playing Smile
