Steam always has the right to disable your account permanently. For example, last year hundreds of accounts were disabled for using a specific steam crack (a loader)
Most of them were blank, but some contained games.
I don't know if they would act against proxying, though.
EDIT: You should download a pirate rlz and fool around with it, then when steam unlocks your download, close it, throw the files from the pirate-rlz installation in the folder in steamapps where steam can find them and you save 99% of the downloading.

Heh, for games I own via Steam I just move the files over from a downloaded release and verify the cache, it'll overwrite whatever changed files Steam has (Or previously cracked ones.) but it won't affect or risk your account.
It will however be a bit risky to fool around with and change the ClientRegistry.blob file to add titles you don't own and obviously using a emulated Steam with your real account can get you banned if it goes trough Valve's servers. (Or rather you might have the account "disabled".)
I use two accounts due to that but lately I've mostly just browsed changes in that .blob file to see upcoming titles and other interesting changes before they're announced.
(Dragon Age Origins Awakening has a pre-order DLC bonus it seems unless they call the actual expansion DLC, there'll be a lot of extra maps as DLC for "SupCom2" also - http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/3443/10132712.jpg - although you can't do much aside from viewing.)
While you can fool around a bit you won't really be able to download most games like this as Valve has increased their security quite a bit like the previously mentioned missing files from the discs and those release date checks plus other checks to see if you own the game and such.
(Not all that informed about these things but I've read a bit about it.)
Overall though Steam is a pretty light DRM to crack and emulate (Or atleast so it seems.) although getting the files can be problematic until it's officially released.
(A few hours until the US release or "unlock" now as far as I know, bit over midnight over there or something like that, depending on timezone of course but overall it's night-time I think.)

http://avp.org.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=264 polish fansite review, quick summary:
8/10:
pros:
- atmosphere
- gameplay (all campaigns)
- gfx/sfx
- good optimalization
- androids
cons:
- storyline
- short lenght
- backtracking/reusing locations in campaigns
- boss fights
in general - all alien/predator fans should be pleased, no complains about movement (fck, at last someone who does not complain about that) npc AI is improved, aliens dont run straight on you (like they did in previous games which no one seems to remember now), instead they use ceilings/walls often. there are also little touches here and there like different sound of marine voice when predator is in thermovision mode etc
ive read somewhere that there is a difficulty mode where there are no saves or checkpoints, just like in 1st game - guess i`ll be playing in that mode and i dont plan to use cheap tricks like predator vocoder either, hope theres still a way to play without that.

Should be unlocked in three or four hours it seems, accidentally set the wrong age on the Steam website so I can't check it at the moment but links to the US, UK and EU versions of the store site was posted on the previous page.

It says 6 hours right now in the US store.
EU is the same just +3 days.
Edit... just changed to 5 hours, so I guess 17:00 GMT is the release time.

Everyony (Well a lot of people anyway.) were expecting a midnight unlock but it seems it didn't happen (A few posts on the Steam forum for example.) so around the evening European time then based on the above post.
(Heh, probably around the 20th for certain European countries then, wish they standardized the time of release for different zones but I guess they have to be in the office first and stuff like that.)

Hence I prefer EU digital stores over US ones IF they have the same rls date that is.
Gamersgate for example unlocks the game around 9 am(GMT+1) and in the US around 7+ hours later.
Not always,but in most cases...
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 4,7 GHz
Asrock X670E Steel Legend
G.Skill Trident Z5 32 GB DDR5 6400Mhz
Asus TUF RTX 4090 24 GB GDDR6X
NZXT Kraken Z73 RGB
Corsair HX1500i Platinum
NZXT H7 Flow

Heh, not that the price differs much but old gamersgate released titles a bit here and there (Like my posts about it back then for Cryostasis and Necrovision.), now it's usually around the morning or a bit before noon at release day.
(Those "blue coins" are a nice reward as well, few extra titles for nothing.)
Speaking of them Space Rangers 3 (Or as it's also called Space Rangers 2: Civil War) should be out on Friday as well.
(New Necrovision game also but I already finished the Russian one with the translation hack for it, in that games thread, bit short but just as chaotic as the first game and the new enemies and weapons add some diversity although the last couple of levels feel like repetitions from the previous game and the end boss fight is sorta annoying.)

You know I have a feeling I will enjoy this new AVp3 game, even though it is a console port with no modability support and wrapped with crap like steam and windows live.

Supposedly LIVE isn't used, thought it was (Until mentioned a few pages back.) due to matchmaking but it would explain how they also plan for dedicated server support and that matchmaking was entirely trough Steam.
(Uses Steamworks achievements as well.)

Wouldn't multiplayer be problematic though (Not that I play online much myself.) if it's trough Steam without any LIVE support?
(Seeing say Modern Warfare 2 or other Steam games.)

This one has dedicated servers, which means cracking it would be closer to, say, L4D, TF2, etc, and they all have "private" servers.
