Well it's for the best, like many games these days (Spore comes to mind) it started very ambitiously, as it turned out to ambitiously, great concept, original idea, then it got bought by a bigger company and turned mainstream, dumbed down, shit down the hatch, optimized for the gamepad, fubar.

$>everything else, I don't see a new gem aka Deus Ex coming out anytime soon, unless it's being done as we speak in some unknown small studio in Russia, because as soon as some big fish smells an original game they have to buy the rights to it, dumb it down then sell it as your average unoriginal game Rolling Eyes why buy it then, just make your stupid game with someone else and leave the genius at work alone, Jesus.

An official statement from Microsoft, posted at Strategy Informer, states that the publisher felt that the game was best suited to be played "from the couch in front of a larger TV screen".

That's funny, I play pc games in front of a big plasma tv sometimes (ME1, ME2 for ex) and with a keyboard&mouse, I can also play via gamepad, or just play on the monitor, endless amount of options on the pc just one on the xbox.

"Hai gaiz, we've been making Alan Wake for 5 years, but just decided to drop it all together a few months before release for the PC. Have fun, and don't say we stringed you! Oh, and don't hate, hate is not a good feeling, it's just that the PC can't handle such small resolutions."

Rotfl, I love how people have been waiting for this game for five years and now that it's canceled for PC everyone is going "well, it was shit anyway, good riddance"

Personally, I was waiting for it on pc, and don't have any problems admitting I'm quite disappointed Sad

News about Alan Wake were becoming less and less interesting, to be honest. I was interested in the game when it was introduced, on a huge conference showing off intel's quad cores (irony). The graphics looked incredible, the game's concept - ambitious. But then, time passed, graphics became dated and most effects were introduced in other games while they were STILL working on AW (reworking, apparently). And then, the concept started to sound less and less innovative and grand - until it became yet another linear horror game.

Don't get me wrong, i still think it'll be a good linear horror game, but from the (latest) gameplay footages i've seen, there really isn't anything in it that should make us cry crocodile's tears over the fact that it won't hit PC market after all.

I was a little sad when Remedy cancelled Alan Wake for PC some months ago, but not anymore, not after the announcement of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a survival-horror game from the makers of Penumbra to be released this year. Very Happy

May Microsoft and Remedy burn in hell for all eternity....

Alan Wake Will Never See The Light Of Day On The PC

Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.

Fucking assholes, I have been waiting for this game since forever.
When did they start to develop, I don't how long ago.
My brother showed me a teaser back then and I was hooked, and now this....

Maybe it's time to buy an 360/PS3

to be honest i think thats absolute bullshit. the 'living room couch' is not the best way to experience an atmospheric game. its the best way to experience something loud and action packed... gears of war is a good example...

pc is always going to be better for experiencing these kinds of games... lights out, sitting up close to the screen, headphones on.. absolute crock of shit... but whatever, its all 'advertising bullshit', so you cant take it too seriously. they just decided the investment required to bring it to pc wouldnt be worth the returns... just wish theyd at least be fucking HONEST about it instead of feeding obvious bs.

but whatever... like everyone else, i moved on a long time ago, so hearing i WONT get to play it, doesnt bother me.

i hate standards , like Couch is for Entertainment ... fuck it i sit on the floor when i play the PC , sit on the floor when i eat , sit on the floor when i play, watch and fuck .... so if you scratch that you see its about two words "TV" "size"

When someone here or somewhere else mentions that "TV" and "size" change the game they should really die .. really die now

Here in Poland we have a saying not to belive in any information that hasn't been officialy denied (its main appliment is what goverment say), so I'm guessing PC version it's on it's way (some time after console version though).

Bottom line is they threw whatever they had for PC out the window and dumbed it down when they decided to go the console route. Simply no big loss here.
