Well the engine is said to be a hybrid of Unreal Engine 2.5 (Similar to say Pariah or UT2004 which is why the file layout is totally different from UE3 titles even though there are many similarities.) so it looks pretty good, still as seen in comparisons it's not quite as sharp as Bioshock 1, probably some optimization reason. (I suppose TexMod could be used to check the resolution of a few textures, models are rather low-poly as well though, handle on that rivet gun shows that quite well.)
Can be altered a bit via INI editing but that's as good as it's going to look.
(Forcign AA and AF aside.)

Testing the Reloaded release now. No problems whatsoever. But, there seems to be no main menu music. Is this normal?

For anyone with Nvidia having problems with occasional stuttering in all resolutions set your max render frames to 0 in NCP.

I never even tried 1.
Do you have to unload 2 clips into averagerandommob before it'll go down or is there some semblance of bullet damage realism (along w/ decent rpg elements) to this game?

First off, try the first one, it's better (more atmosphere, a bit scary (not horror as such but...), better pacing both in terms of story and action and the environments feel much more fun and unique, the first one has the same graphics albeit still look a bit better than the second one for some reason (probably due to better design in the first).
Only negative aspect is that the first one has to be tweaked a bit to get proper widescreen resolutions, but that is easy fixed and all of it can be found on the steam forums alternatively the tweakguides.com site. Bioshock 2 is fun and a good game but the first one is better unless you prefer the more horde-like action type that the second one has.
As for damage, well, it has no sense of realism at all. But it doesn't exactly take tons of ammo to take down normal enemies (only non-normal ones...), it's all about mixing in powers with the weapons. Some weapons are infinitely better than others but yeah, it's not realistic, enemies do have HP bars and they do require a good 2-5 shots to take if you use the rivet gun. |
Aim for the head? I managed to 1-2 shot splicers with headshots with fully upgraded rivet gun, even without the headshot tonic..

It looks better in motion, probably a blur effect or something.. you can see drops of water, physics, etc..

9 out of 10 from me this one! | Yeah that was probably the best part of the game. I wouldn't call the storyline epic. It was good, but not epic. Otherwise you'd call something like DAO or ME2 the storylines of the age of man. I'd give the thing 7-7.5/10. There's nothing earth-shattering special about the game, gameplay, or storyline. It's an alright game in itself, it's money worthy to buy, the MP is fun. But for the amount of cash you drop on it, a storyline longer than 10hrs would be good.
No shortage of bugs either. But still good enough. Nice diversion and fun enough you can unwind while playing it.

If you keep to an 800*600 resolution, the game should be playable.
