Installed correctly - both the game, the missing file, and then GFWL, but keep getting an error on running the game (SP) that GFWL is not installed.

Tried reinstalling, updating, etc...no go.

Did you copy over all the files of razor ? And THEN the missing launcher ? All in the same folder ?

You didn't rename anything, did you ?

Nope. Followed the NFO exactly. Even recopied the crack to be sure. Crack first, THEN the launcher.

Just uninstalled, reinstalled, copied crack from DVD, copied missing file, still getting the same error.

Odd-ball.

Uninstall GFWL and install an older version from an older game like Fallout 3 or Batman or something.

Or maybe you're missing the correct c runtime redistributables and GFWL can't initiallize

That's the thing, GFWL starts up fine. I've also installed the runtimes and everything. Very weird.

May just give up on this. I installed an older version from FO3, then got some kind of 5349 ordinal error that it couldn't link to xlive.dll.

Reinstalling Live over top resulted in the same error as before. Dammit.

Which OS is it ?

Maybe take the opportunity to reformat to win7 x64 ? And just profit ?

EDIT: I also tested Xliveless and it doesn't work with Bioshock 2, maybe you'll get lucky and support will be added.

Already am on Win7 x64 Smile Somethings just screwed somewhere and unless I reformat I have a feeling it won't get fixed.

I'm going to try the RLD release and see how that does.

The only changed files are the launcher and well, the rld.dll is new. So you only need those 2 files.

Tried a complete reinstall - still a no go. Did a quick test - it's related to the SP exe it seems. It's just not recognizing GFWL as being installed. MP starts fine and moving the SP.exe into that folder just throws the same error.

Only other thought is it having something to do with not installing to the default install location...

It's definitely something with my main/gaming PC. I installed it on my HTPC and it worked ok (but it's not powered anywhere near enough to realistically run the game on an HDTV)...

Swebard, I tried that as well. Still throws the error.

I tried straight copying an xlive.dll into my SysWOW64 folder...still a no go.

Something must be screwed up either from another game I've installed, other software, etc. Can't figure it out at all since Live runs fine on its own... (starts up, logs in, etc.) I'm thinking its a Win7x64 issue combined with some crack or something from a previous game...has to be.

Format would answer this but...need the computer in full working order for the next few days...

Came to think about one thing after re-reading this thread, you say the game installed fine and you copied over the missing file (Razor1911 release probably with fix.)

However both Reloaded and Razor use the disc version which until a few days ago wouldn't pass a specific check (Might perhaps still not do without proper activation.) where the EXE and associated files are not downloaded and the launcher is used for activation instead of playing the game.

With the file copied over and the fix (Either Reloaded or Razorzr1911) applied you will have the launcher (Main EXE is untouched.) and can start the game but it'll miss the side files like Bioshock2.exe.cat and so on.), you could try to download Reloaded's crack from Gamecopyworld, actual crack only needs the launcher and their little side .dll (1911.dll or rld.dll) but it contains the extra files and even the original EXE incase it's some problem with that file and LIVE won't initialize as it detects it's not original or if the side files are altered in some way.
(Though you also say MP functions just fine and it's the same deal with that so it shouldn't, unless the SP EXE or some of those files are somehow damaged or inaccurate, in the worst case infected but that's a rather low chace.*)

* could also be the AV or firewall blocking it due to some false positive.
(But normally it'll prompt before doing it.)

EDIT: Ah you also tried it on another computer and it worked fine, perhaps not then.
(Unless it's firewall or AV related like I mentioned briefly but it would notify you before blocking access or quarantining the file.)

Just to make sure it's BS2 specific I installed Fallout 3 and tested. Works fine. Starts right up.

Also, I tried completely turning off my firewall to see if that worked. Didn't work.

Also, turned off AVG's resident shield. Still nothing.

No errors being thrown, just this in a window with no title:

Games for Windows- Live is not installed, our outdated. Please install the latest.
Games for Windlws- Live from hXXp://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=128962

The spelling is incorrect in the window and the file at that link is what I've installed (and uninstalled, then reinstalled) a few times.

lmao, typo in the error string ? Shows how carefully programmed the GFWL shit is.

Note that Fallout 3 can start right up even without GFWL (I have it disabled, lol, I renamed the fallout3.exe.cat file)

What happens when in FO3 you press the "Live" option ? Or Home ? Does the GFWL overlay show ? Do you login ?

The overlay comes up fine - it's a local profile though.
