EXE files don't delete themselves, if you use a crack it's possible your AV program or similar is active in the background and interfering due to heuristic scanning or something.
(Detecting it as a unknown trojan due to memory injection or how it's handled and automatically quarantining or even deleting the file.)

Add it as a exception or disable the program while you play. Smile
(Normally if it scans memory and such while playing you might get stability issues, probably more so if using a cracked copy that is detected as a trojan or virus, if the program lets you run it at all.)

EDIT: Didn't Reloaded's cracks have this problem due to them using calls from a separate RLD.dll file or something?

+1. Not only the devs but the whole genre (free-roaming FPS with RPG elements) deserves our support, we need more of these kind of games, if it sells good we can expect more, its as easy as that Wink

EuroGamer review (EuroGamer are notorious for slaughtering most games by the knees for some reason):

Quote:
EuroGamer's run the first online, English-language review of GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call Of Pripyat, which is shipping out to stores in North America and Europe via a variety of mickey mouse distributors. Overall, EuroGamer seem pretty chuffed, awarding the Eastern-European action oddity with a darn decent 8/10:

The one big question you have left is the one most prominently bequeathed by Call of Pripyat's storied predecessors. Is it broken?

Amazingly the answer, this time, is no. That's not to say it's completely flawless - I experienced a couple of crashes to the desktop, and co-ordinating anything with the slightly clumsy AI actions can still be a grind. But essentially the experience is bug-free.

STALKER. Unbroken, without being modded. If you're a fan, this is basically what you've been waiting for - a fully functioning STALKER which combines the best aspects of Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky and polishes them to a slightly creaky charm.

Only the slight sensation of datedness prevents this from scoring higher, and no doubt once the mods start flowing the value for money will get even better. But there's plenty here to keep the faithful feeling extremely optimistic about the prospect of a proper sequel. And there's still nothing out there quite like STALKER.

Drooling + salivating + hard-on.....

Shouldn't be that different from what's available though, I expect the voices to be unchanged from the English/Polish version though the text translation will probably be a bit more "liberal" than the unofficial ones from comparing what they spoke in English and what the translation said. (Current translations are excellent as well.)

Probably will contain 1.6.002 as well which is nice in terms of fixes and improvements, already played trough the game though but I might end up buying it as to support GSC and whatever publisher they use now. Very Happy
(Deep-Silver/Koch Media again?)

If you want my opinion, it's better to play the game with original russian voices and english subtitles. Those english voices are bad and they certainly spoil the experiance.

I just want proper subtitling thats all, when you get those radio messages and they're in russian with no text it's kinda hard figuring out what you were just told. It ruins the experience for me.

That google project mod has had subtitles since it's 1.0 release a while ago, unsure if it's better than the other translation available but that one didn't have full subtitles.
(The google-project one also uses actual weapon names and I think the Stalker random NPC names were a bit less direct, wasn't there a gull called Dumbass or Smartass or something?)

Heh, I finished the game in November 09 Very Happy I liked side quests more than main story line. Wish there were at least 2 more maps (or Pripyat equally large and filled as Jupiter or Zaton - Creek).

Off topic I know, but I have just installed the complete 2009 mod for SOC and I'm blown away Very Happy It's almost a new game!
I must admit that I never really enjoyed SOC when I played through it, but now everything in it just feels SMOOTH Smile I just reached the Agroprom Institute so I can't vouch for the quality of most of the mod yet, but can somebody who have completed it tell me if the end game is altered too?
For me the ending at Chernobyl (outside and inside) really sucked with all that teleporting everywhere so I hope that the mod also changes/enhances that part of the game.

Well, like Beckman already mentioned, I'm also not expecting anything better in the english release regarding english voices. Probably subtitles will be slightly more accurate. Maybe you should wait till someone extracts a proper subtitles from the english release. Ermm..this doesn't mean you don't have to buy the game! Smile Btw, why the heck are developers saving money on such things? Like they don't have enough money to find people with perfect english!? Scratch Head

M4trix: if I have bought an international release (with EN language), I would have replaced at least texts. Because s-cop project has definitely better translation than any other. They have worked on it since, I don't know October 09? Also they have subtitles (e.g. closed captions) and I really doubt that international release will have them.
