You specifically mean the run around the Citadel scanning stuff types? I guess it is missing that, though there are similar quests on Illium and maybe Omega.

It's still a Bioware game because of the focus on characters and story, you really think missing some side quests destroys that?

Yes, for all it's faults ME1 was an rpg because of the quests this is more Gears of War then an rpg and it should be an rpg.

Well the are trying to create a good balance of action and RPG games. It is pretty obvious they want to create a genre that is more appealing to the masses (he hee..masses) by stepping away from the classic RPG formula and experimenting with this and that. I say they are making good progress. Perhaps did some things wrong, definitely some things right, but they are getting there.
I only think, they could make things even bigger. As long as they don't completely dumb down story/character interactions/choices and consequences, they'll do just fine... In my opinion of course Smile

PS: And yeah, other RPG elements, such as character customization (appearance, powers etc) obviously need to stay, but I don't think they are actually dumb enough to throw that away.

Which quests do you mean? Citadel and Noveria quests in ME were nothing special.

[quote="MinderMast"]Hmm, but can't you change the difficulty at any point in the game? It seems odd to lock out weapons that way. Also, is that Geth rifle part of one of the DLCs, or is it supposed to be in the game from the start?[/quote
The DLC is a Collector Rifle. But yeah Ill change the difficulty and try it.

well still playing it so i guess that means the games pretty fun. i like how loading is handled in this.. the transitions are completely unnoticable when going from room to room, unlike dragon age which had you hitting a loading screen every time you entered a house or a new floor... the game gave me dooraphobia...

dunno how far i made it through the first game before i got bored... kinda hope i finish this one, perhaps itll even make me want to replay and finish the first one.. i became a lot more tolerable of rpgs after playing the epic witcher, so i dont hate rpgs as much as i used to... cept jap rpgs, i still think those are a load of pure rotten shit... but anyway... remember some of the characters from the first game.. i liked pissing off that face-masked alien freak chick. i remembered hating her in the first game, but it was good seeing who archangel was.. i liked him in the first game quite a lot.

also having fun playing renegade... its weird, i used to have a problem playing the more 'evil' options, but thankfully im totally over it and enjoying killing characters and pissing off ones i dont like. funnnn Very Happy

oh and the game runs smooth as fuck, which i guess will always be the benefit for us pc gamers of console ports... as long as theyre done decently enough. everything maxed at 1920x1200 at 60fps, though sometimes it drops down to 58 Sad

When it comes to performance, UE3 never was particularly demanding. Until you enable loads of SSAA that is. Doing the second round with AA enabled, looks much better, damn jaggies ruin the immersion! Smile

Do I get a clear sign when I reach the point of no return? Is it when I have to enter the Omega 4 relay? I'm trying to vary between sidequests and teh mainquest, but I don't want to end it without even knowing I can't turn back.

Since I can't get the DLC working yet... It's not all that bad. Maybe they tweaked it.

Basically it's best to try and finish up all the missions before the IFF, imo. Then you can just continue on with the story.

True, but I think doing recruitment missions triggers the IFF one at one point. At least I remember a moment where I wanted to keep doing the missions, but I couldn't use the Galaxy map, I was informed that the Illusive Man wishes to speak with me (change of plans) and after that you really can't avoid it. Or may be there's something specific that triggers it?

The mission prior to the IFF mssion is triggered yes, you can't choose not to do it. But the IFF misison itself, where you get the IFF, isn't forced.

I don't fucking understand it either. First I thought that people that forgot to disable the online authentication before installing the DLC are having this problem. But from what I understand some of them have no problem at all disabling it after installing and using the crack.

Either the game detects the active network adapter the first time around and detects a active internet connection or the game tries to connect to the authentication site and fails.

The later implies that the game uses another file to authenticate beside the main and launcher exe since I tried cockblocking those 2 with every program I could find. A few people didn't even mention firewalling it.

The first must involve saving the setting in some folder the first time u run it. So I can't figure it out... and until a proper or a fix comes a long disconnecting from the internet is the way to go for those many unlucky ones including myself.

I read somewhere on the official forums that you actually have 2 deployments after the IFF mission before the nasty thing happens. So you can do Legion's loyalty quest and one other thing. The logical thing would be to save Tali's loyalty mission until this time for additional Geth in the Flotilla lulz.

I think I waited 15 or more hours until I did the IFF mission, lol. You do eventually have to do it, since it's part of the main story, but it can be delayed.

Ah, I see. Good to know.

As for DLC, didn't block anything either, I have the exe files on allowed list in the Windows Firewall too. But... I have a firewalled router, so I guess that did the job, if it was indeed necessary. Some people might have their connections blocked on ISP level too, but i doubt that this should affect it - would be dumb to create a protection system that wouldn't work because of this imho.
