What improvements can we expect apart from increased system requirements?

somehow i don't think the textures on sc2 are better.

Extremely shitty images to show good texturing sublime.
There are objects and locations in hl2 that have much better textures than what those images show.

The stone wall behind fisher in the picture above is much more real looking than anything in those screens. Awesome textures.

i dont see how you can say the wall textures are better :/.... also the textures on sam are ugly as fuck. also the lighting is all over the place.... bringht places on surfaces for no reason, some places are brighter than one's closer to the light source. if any1 played the MP demo then u'd know it's nothing amazing and textures were minimal on there.

How can you NOT say it's better? Are you blind? Shocked
Look how blurry the wall on the hl2 shot is and how detailed it is on the splinter shot.
You cant see any cracks, or anything on the hl2 wall. It's plain and simple.
I have seen many stone walls like the one in the splinter shot, and let me tell you, it's very close to the real thing.

But like I said, there are many other locations and objects in hl2 that have awesome texture job, and problary better than anything splinter cell have.

blurred? cracks? dude clean your glasses. the wall is further away so obviously wont have a huge dint in it like the SC shot does which btw looks out of place.

The graphics of the MP beta demo were ugly to mediocre but that is not the final product.

It's a good texture on splinter cell - but they are both completely different games in different engines so it's only natural that they each have their benefits/drawbacks.

I personally think the texturing, level design and just overall atmosphere of Half-Life is of a very high level that most games would struggle to achieve let alone beat.

But I'm not a sucker for the technical details like some (hello Smile)

Splinter Cell does have this tendency to drown it's locations in black though, and we all know that's a great (and easy) way of creating the illusion of detail.

It's not that awensome graphic that SC1 took when it was realesed, but SC3 is nice too Smile

That's what I am talking about, don't judge the game on a gay sytem. Like giving a child a sword, shield and armor and telling him to go to war. The game looks fucking impressive.

I would recommend a controller for this, cus the mouse-control is pretty wierd. And you dont get to have the shotgun and the frag granade like in the xbox demo. Which takes some of the fun out of it.

And for those with a 6600 or 6800 card. SM3.0 enables very realistic soft shadows (compared to the "a bit blocky" normal soft-shadows in the game). You also get HDR (high dynamic ranges) which improves lightning somewhat. And you get parralax mapping for increased depth detail in the textures.

Very nice Smile

Looking forward to this one, i agree that it looks great, by judging from the screenshots it can easily be compared to HL2 or Doom3.. I bet it looks even better in action, games has a tendency to do so Wink

Too bad the Splinter Cell games are so linear though..

That's his point Wink

Although those screens dont seem to be having the highest settings applied. So I dont think they are accurat to how hl2 looks when running with everything on high.

Can be. But I don't want to install it again, all that 5cd :/
If someone (with decent rig) can, please check at least one thing. When you are driving that mudskipper or sth turn your head (with mouse I mean Wink ) 180 degrees, and check how back of that seat looks.

Cheers.
My friend with SC demo is on his way to me Very Happy

This is good textures in my opinion. Cool

I must say that the demo really impressed me. But how do you do those CQC moves? Maybe it's in the control settings in the game? I didnt look there.
