Haven't seen any significance to choices made in ME1 in this game, and it will probably be the same with 3. | there are big choices from me1 , that can't be done in me2 : Wrex will live ,alien love partner , Alien council will live , Insect alien race will live , stronger weapons and armor when you convince the Hindi husband to donate his wife body for study and other 200 choices made in side-quest ... yes even the alien artifact Silver Orb thats opened by the key you got from a other mission is a important choice
But If you play as a default Shepard you get those choices :
killed the council.
killed the rachni.
killed Wrex.
Saved Ash (if Male)
Saved Kaiden (if female)
and did 0 side quests.

None of these make a significant impact on the game or story. Nothing of the promised. And now they are promising for ME3 and I say "bla bla bla".
BTW, what are the differences between saved Wrex and killed Wrex? Probably some other take his place, and dialog choices are a little different.

list of missions/actions from ME1 that are confirmed to have an affect on the next game:
1.) The decision to save either Kaidan or Ashley.
2.) Whether or not the player kills Wrex on Virmire.
3.) Whether or not the player decides to save the Citadel Council at the end of Mass Effect.
4.) The player's choice of love interest.
5.) Whether the player spares or destroys the Rachni Queen at Peak 15. (to have or not to have a ally against the collectors)
6.) The player's treatment of Conrad Verner your FAN .
7.) Whether or not the player completed the UNC: Asari Diplomacy sidequest.
8.) Whether the player chose to allow the Alliance to conduct experiments on Nirali Bhatia's body.
If an imported Shepard has a love interest from the original Mass Effect, then that relationship will continue into Mass Effect 2, even though the love interest will be unable to join Shepard's squad. However, it is possible for Shepard to be unfaithful and pursue a relationship with one of Mass Effect 2's potential love interests. Acting unfaithfully is expected to have negative consequences for the relationship in Mass Effect 3.

You can copypasta all you want, all of that TL;DR is bullshit. Defacto, none of these have real consequences in ME2.

It only changes peoples attitude from my experience it's not like there are items you can't get or characters that won't join your mission etcetera. But yes for instance in the Citadel nobody likes humans because of the council dying but there's no actual effect on the mission.

Having played a 100% complete paragon character and a default character I'll throw my weight on the doesn't change shit side of things. All changes are minor.

I think THAT is going to come back and bite me in the arse... I chose to rewrite the Heretic Geth, so now they're broken free of the need/conditioning to worship the Reapers.
..... I have a feeling I made the WRONG choice, even though rewriting instead of exterminating is considered a Paragon path.

Spoiler: | Bad how exactly? The worst thing that can happen is more war. As opposed to the alternate route of blowing them to hell and still having Geth in other places worshipping Reapers. :S |

Spoiler: | Pretty sure every biotic can do it but I used Samara as she is apparently one of the most powerful ever, so it was a given. I ended up losing both Legion and Jack, though :/ Don't know what I did wrong but I probably won't have my save game for when me3 comes out anyway D: |

Jack is also a crazy bitch and I wouldn't trust her to do anything. That said it probably works. One thing about combat that annoys me. I roll soldier so I have all weps. In ME1 I primarily used pistols, sniper rifles, shotguns. ME2 is rifles and sniper rifles and every so incredibly rarely the big arse heavy weapon. I like shotguns but in ME2 they just seem so worthless.

WOOHOO!!!!
48hrs 33mins. 100% completion. Everything done. Every quest, every mission, every upgrade, ever planet, everything. Done to 100% *except* the DLC stuff.. ie; Bounty Hunter + his mission, Shepard's Sorrow (returning to the crash site of the original Normandy) and all the DLC weapons and armour pieces.
Other than that? ALL DONE ^_^
Spoiler: |
Everyone lived! Even Kelly *grins*
I kept the Collector Base for myself.
I told Illusive Man to go fuck himself, he answers to me now or not at all.
HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD! That was a lot of Reapers!

Very rare that I switched from auto-sniper or assault rifle to something else. As you say a heavy weapon once in a while but that's it. Of course you are a soldier so maybe that is to be expected :E? The krogan shottie is just too slow to be any good

I find pistol (or hand canon ) + inferno ammo to be VERY effective with my vanguard. I use SMG + inferno ammo when in tight spots and need spray & pray. I took Sniper advanced training, but don't use it - the pistol is precise enough, I have a mouse, thank you very much.

Spoiler: |
Actually, it turns out that I didn't keep the base to myself. By choosing NOT to destroy the collector base, it means Cerberus gets it - and my crew are NOT happy about that. At all. Even Miranda, a Cerberus girl through and through, said it was a bad idea.
Grrr.

How did you manage that?
Spoiler: | For me, everyone lived but Kelly and the Crew died (only Doctor survived).
I thought it works like this: You either go to battle unprepared and save the crew in time or take the time to do all the loyalty missions and arrive to late to rescue the crew...
How do you do complete everything and still rescue the crew? |

Nice to see you enjoyed it Sabin.
How the hell did you cloak 48 hours?
I am pretty sure I did everything. All companion side quests/loyalty. Explored every plant on the map and did the side quests that popped up. Did everything on the story planets. Almost every upgrade (ran out of cash.). 100% paragon. Everyone survives.
Just shy of 35 hours.
Unless you spent 13 hours scanning planets for resources (I had about 100k of each resource by the end with nothing to spend it on.) I must be missing something.

Spoiler: | You moved through the game too fast. By the time I went for the IFF everyone was loyal except the one member not on my team. When you pick someone up and have a convo with them, generally you get the 'do this for me' quest right after the next quest you do. Don't start the IFF mission till everyone is loyal |

Did you ask crew members for upgrade advices? Also, you need to visit stores and buy upgrade plans, which you can upgrade later at the lab.
