This is very good news and to be honest I thought that it was never going to happen. As others have already said, this guy is certainly credible so I expect something to come of this.

sabin you're wasting your time dude. these are the types that dont' consider it "hacked" until it's playing a copy. cause that's all console hacking is to them is the ability to screw people out of money so they can play a game for free.
they have no idea what the relevance of this is other than playing a dumb ass game for free.

indeed buddy - i personally hope this knocks microsoft down quite a few rungs on the ladder. i'm not fan boy of either system but it is not good for microsoft to keep spreading further and further like a cancer into everything. they have way too much of a choke hold on the video game industry.
if this hopefully comes about like it should... i think the ps3 will catch on like a wildfire with the modding community and it will finally take its' place beside the 360. this could be just the thing sony needs to boost sales.

I couldn't agree more. As much as Sony hates it, the custom firmware option has had an immeasurable impact on the sales of PSP consoles. Same goes with the NDS, or the original Xbox too. It's a nice "bonus" having the ability to play copied games, but my primary use for my original Xbox was emulation and media. Swapped out the HDD for a 160GB one, installed a shit-ton of emulators -- and I use the machine as an "Under the TV" emulation station.
If the homebrew community manage to do the same thing to the PS3, including reinstating the full install of Linux, then that's only going to HELP Sony sell machines.

They said the same thing about the 360 being unable to run unsigned code. It wouldn't work. But manu_xl's vast programming knowledge knows better.

manu, dude... it has been hacked. i guess the problem is that everyone's definition of hacked varies. for most of you guys you won't believe it until you're playing a blu-ray copy of something or an iso from the internal hard drive. for the script kiddie/gimmie games now type of people i guess it has not been hacked. but for people that are truly interested in the home brew aspect and other developments, this is a huge step forward.
no it aint been hacked wide open and there isn't 500 how to's on the internet. doesn't mean it's not hacked. i'm not trying to argue with you dude but have you even read anything on the guy's site? this is the dude that hacked the iphone/touch. it's not some dumb ass kid with a relabeled ps3 game on youtube.
