To play Devil's Advocate here, I actually *do* understand and sympathise with companies on the whole preowned market thing. They don't get a penny from those games, whereas the game store gets pretty much 70-100% of the profit (minus whatever pittance they paid the gamer for the game) That's gotta suck balls if you're a publisher/developer.

It's great (ish...) for the gamer because you [can] get a game you want at almost half the price of retail. I say "ish" because these days preowned games really aren't that much cheaper than new retail. I've seen preowned 360/PS3 games go for no more than £7 cheaper than retail. That's just disgusting! And you just know the game store only paid £12, for example, and then marked the price back up to £30 when they sell it.

I agree. For a developer/publisher, game reselling is no better than piracy.
Either way they don't get any cash. If anything, reselling is even worse than piracy because people who buy used games would have bought a slightly more expensive retail version if they didn't have the option of buying the cheaper used one, whereas people who pirate the game probably wouldn't buy it even if they couldn't download it.

So, I've got the newest CD-Action in front of me, if you guys have any questions regarding the review don't hesitate to ask.

SCORE : 10/10

+ AMAZING gameplay
+ Great dialogues and characters
+ Great voice overs
+ Great fight mechanics
+ Involving story
+ Graphics

- Didn't find any to mention, and I tried.
- ... Well, it's not as open as any MMO.

Unfortunately no. But I found something that I think is new:

Direct quote from the review:

Quote:
Even though the developers said there will be no new game+ mode (a mode where you can pass the game again with your character from the first playthrough) it is actually in the game.

There is no Mako.

There are no vehicles in the game that you can drive. However, you can actually steer Normandy. When you get on the planet's orbit, you can steer to the place where you want to dock. You also travel through systems that way, you don't travel through FTL gates as in ME1.

Instead of Mako you have a scanner build in Normandy, you can "harvest" minerals from different planets in exchange for technological points(you don't actually earn credits for them, just technological points.)- you can then invest them to research so that you can upgrade your armor, weapons etc.

So you can land anywhere you want on planet? I know there will be just small level on eahc planet, and rest would probably be deserted. However if ME2 is at least a bit more open than ME1 and you could land anywhere it would be amazing and you could choose strategically from where you assault.

Rumor: Mass Effect 2 DLC details leaked
Code:
Norwegian newspaper DagBladet is reporting DLC will likely be available day one or soon thereafter for Mass Effect 2. DagBladet says the usual items like armor and weapons will be available, but also other things, such as an unlockable planet and even a new ally by the name of Zaeed Messani, the grizzled bounty hunter pictured above. The piece also mentions an in-game store for unlocking DLC called "Cerberus Network," which sounds a lot like Dragon Age: Origins' DLC platform.

There's more info available, but in the interest of being as spoiler-free as possible, we won't go into it. So, if you don't mind braving spoiler territory, hit up the link below.

Damn, I can't wait for this now. Loved the first, this one looks even better. However, I placed STALKER: CoP on pre-order (released feb 5th) so I can't really afford a second retail game (tons of money spent on fixing car etc.)....

This is exactly my problem. Just switch STALKER: CoP with Mass Effect 2.

But I'll eventually buy CoP too.

Probably EA had some lawyer goons send some C&D e-mails to the mod makers. Mad God forbid, they might find a way to make the DLC work for free, or even better, do an even better job for free.

There's a hacked UE3 editor for Borderlands (GCW and other places.) so a similar attempt for Mass Effect and it's sequel might be doable depending on what files are required for it to work.
(There are model edits for Mirrors Edge so it's possible, ME only has some texture and model swaps however, as far as I know.)

EDIT: Haha, that was more than I knew, interesting. Smile

Mirror's Edge has a fully working editor, actually. Smile You just need to copy some resource files from UT3, and running the exe with -editor runs it (DICE forgot to lock the editor).

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but my guess is you'll get a tolerable framerate at a decent resolution on this UE3 game. Laughing

considering those screens were taken from 360 (720p), i'm pretty sure it will run with same performance as it did on hw i played first part that and they said they even optimized it a bit more, so yeah core i7+5850 is probably overkill Cool Face

The only UE3 game I've ever seen that causes problems with framerate, is "The Last Remnant" - and even then it's only when superduperhighextrashadowganza is enable (V.High Battle Shadows Laughing) Turn that to Medium and it flies along at 100fps+
