And it was pretty much a gigantic scavenger hunt. It was so stupid.
Mining and surveying as a minigame was stupid as well in the same sense that Spoiler: | one of your human party members HAD to die | because you have like an entire ship of space marines or whatever they're called. Have them do the menial tasks or do the bomb thing because come on, they're nameless, useless, ineffective boobs.

what did you expect its not startrek when someone unknown speaks on a away mission he dies ... but well its Bioware they are allways narrow minded like that , they allways do thing like that
too bad Joker didn't do the "Mein fuhrer i can walk"
but hey the "Crap a pop-up" made me giggle

Yeah, not to mention the level-scaling loot made it even more pointless to explore these places. You could get the same shit anywhere else, why go to these planets then? It was shit in Oblivion, don't know why they ported it here.

I got the idea that
Spoiler: | one of them had to die because you only had time to go back for one. Well, tha and you didn't know about the bomb at the start of the mission. |
It could be the other way around though, as it's been a while since I played it. Anyway, I kinda liked that choice. I just stood there for 2 minutes thinking how to proceed. For me it really put the RP in RPG.
Spoiler: | I went with Kaidan in the end, because Ash was a bitch That, and I had no use for another soldier in the team. |

Don't see the problem with that; Spoiler: | if all the choices you had to make were obvious and everyone came out alive no matter what etc, it would take away from the game. Also, as said, in that situation you only had enough time to help/pick up one of them. Leaving grunts to do all the important and dangerous jobs isn't likely to get you far. | Hopefully ME2 makes choices even harder, and ups the feeling of what you have to lose in an in-game sense all the more.

They're Space Marines. Not any different than Ashley who, while of some rank, was also pretty much dead if you didn't come across her. I believe they're able enough.
My comments regarding that though was more towards the writers in Bioware, not regarding your in game actions.
Also it wouldn't have taken anything from the game because I didn't really care for either of the two. They were both unappealing.

Heh, wonder how Bioware handles those romance options this time, especially if you are already stable with someone from the first game, perhaps I can get more than one this time without a fight scene.
(Atleast that's what happened in the first game after going for both Ashley and the blue tentacle alien whatever her name was Lliara or something, jealous religious follower that Ashley so that it ended like that was sorta expected, similar to the in-fighting between Leliana and Morrigan in a way in Dragon Age, hehe, I'll keep trying though.)
(Haven't really worked out well at all for companions I end up with though, Morte for example from Planescape Torment thought we got along just fine until he ended up in a pile of living skulls, Dai'Kon never saw that cube again and I kept boosting how I unlocked more "levels" on it than he did and a certain green pet got burnt to a charred crisp, of course nameless himself lost skin, eyes, fingers and even his intestines in pursuit of more power, hahaha.)

If you watch the new Sci vs Fi trailer you can see how the ME1 choices will be implemented. Probably nothing more than a couple of dialogue lines here and there.

damn Launch day DLC that will be free
"Little has spilled out regarding BioWare's DLC plans for Mass Effect 2 but yesterday, via Twitter, the studio indicated there will be launch-day DLC and it won't cost anything."

yea, the DLC disease has just begun oh how I miss those times 2 years ago when there was nothing alike
there are only two reasons why they removed the last squadmate, armor, weapons and the planet from the final game:
a) piracy protection, to get more people to buy the game (sonner or later there will be a release anyway)
b) introduce people to the cerberus network and get them addicted so when the non-free DLC comes out gamers have the incentive to buy it
Its all about $$$ baby and I bet it was EA's idea

Well, you never know when some silly Russian publisher does a piss poor job at protecting the DLC+patches, and we get all the DLC (free or paid) for free.

DA DLC was different, it was BioWare that fucked up. With ME, I think it was 1C that fucked up, and basically released the DLC without serials or account checks.

Why you using your serials? Both DLC packs and patches were cracked.

Oh you can always resell the game just fine (given that it doesn't use trialware/rental activations) but the DLC codes are one-shot-use so to give THOSE away with the game, yeah; you'd need to give away your account too.

haha yeah and the EA account is bound to your forums account and all the other games so they make it harder for you to give it up
now I understand..suckers
I pre-ordered the CE one week ago but there is no confirmation that I'm really gonna get it when they run out of supplies
I guess I'm a little lower on amazon's priority list since I ordered that late and then I'm f'd

Also, only if you buy retail and not Steam/D2D/Impulse... Those should really let people resell their games...

To play Devil's Advocate here, I actually *do* understand and sympathise with companies on the whole preowned market thing. They don't get a penny from those games, whereas the game store gets pretty much 70-100% of the profit (minus whatever pittance they paid the gamer for the game) That's gotta suck balls if you're a publisher/developer.
It's great (ish...) for the gamer because you [can] get a game you want at almost half the price of retail. I say "ish" because these days preowned games really aren't that much cheaper than new retail. I've seen preowned 360/PS3 games go for no more than £7 cheaper than retail. That's just disgusting! And you just know the game store only paid £12, for example, and then marked the price back up to £30 when they sell it.
