ok..first , i know this question been asked in the past, but search didn't come up with something usefull so maybe you will be able to help me:

i play x3-reunion and tc lately, but it is damn too complicated..it's very nice but too heavy..can you recommand me on space combat fighting game like x3 but more user friendly? lol with spot on fighting.

and something from the last few years..not too old...lets say from 2004 on.

thanks ahead.

Spot on. It's easy to get into, great voice acting (in comparison to X3 anyway), and pretty good story. It keeps you focused but allows enough freedom to do your own thing if you so desire. Easily my favorite as well. Play it if you haven't!

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

If you want fun without all the flashiness check out Oolite. There isn't a better Elite clone around.

Why would you want to land on a star? Want to die by burning to death? Smile

A planet would be a bit more sensical. Smile

But seriously: you can "land" on planets in Freelancer, but they are just huge stations basicly. You dock in a ring and you're in the spaceport.

To get a decent planetary landing, you have to go back to Elite2 or 3.

EDIT: or wait for Infinity, but that as good as vapourware.

In evochron legends you can land on planets (you have to watch your speed or you will burn up. You actually go through the atmosphere). . . not just land on them... but you can fly around the landscape and mine and find artifacts and crap. And, the whole universe it is in is seamless. There are warp gates you can use... but you can fly to any part of the universe without ever hitting a warp gate... though it would take quite some time.
Oh, and it is modifiable and has multiplayer.

Theres a tech demo trailer of freelancer 2 on youtube. It looks fantastic, too bad the game never saw the light of day.

Check out tie fighter and x-wing alliance if you havent. Tie Fighter is imo the best space shooter ever!

Sadly, DZT isn't a space shooter - it's a planetside 3rd-person shooter. The only time you use the spacecraft is during the planetary entering sequences Sad

Seconded here! Parkan 2 is excellent, if a little rough around the edges. I love being able to hack the shields of an enemy ship, board it, wipe out all the inhabitants, steal their cargo, then jump back to my ship Very Happy

I don't really know about this one, as I never tried the game myself, but judging by the trailers, it looks promising:

SpaceForce - Rogue Universe

I was looking for a similar game as the OP, and this is the next thing I might pick up. Could anyone who played it shed some light or whether it's worth getting or not?

the main problem with getting games from 3+ years ago is that the thech support is very small or not there at all, for example:
i installed darkstar one and after 2 min's of gameplay the screen become blury as hell out of focus..could't find info on the net about this issue untill after 2 days i found something that solved the problem (luckily).
so..if any of you got this problem, i maybe able to help:)

thanks again for great titles you mansion here..grabed already SpaceForce - Rogue Universe and darkstar one i had on dvd:D and also freelancer and got the parkan2 too and also DZT..DZT is more like zombie shooter, but it's fun game. so..now i will have to check witch one is best for me and hook me most:)

*also gonna get evochron legends..sounds intresting:)

what a days Smile

*laughs* You got stung with the TAGES trigger mate Laughing What happened to you in Darkstar One was a protection element (GTAIV "drunk-o-vision", remember? If you didn't get blurry screen, you might have gotten a broken economy instead; where you get $1 from mission rewards, or every item in the game costs eleventy billion credits Very Happy)

Just patch the game up and use the latest crack from GCW.

DarkStar One v1.3 [ENGLISH] No-DVD/Fixed EXE

Also, as for Evochron Legends; it's EXCELLENT but has a steep learning curve.
