Using a legit copy of DAO Digital Deluxe from steam, is it safe to use the cracked DLC content?

You do realize that the Ostagar dlc contains 1 achievement which will uploaded automatically unless the feature is turned off...
I just think that is important to know before using it with you legit copy which has an online profile for buying dlc etc.
So it should be pretty easy for Bioware to identify who hasn't bought the dlc AND is playing before the official release date...

You can use the last savegame (Group Camp)... and you can complete all the DLCs using that one. Don't need to load and older save. |
What do you mean? The "last" savegame automatically created is before the coronation/celebration when you have beaten the mainquest.
Or do you mean the last save before the main battle is starting? (before entering Castle Redcliff). that one is overwritten since the game overwrites the automatic savepoints when you progress further. but I have a manual save before Castle Redcliff.
I tried the final save game and that seems not to work. the quest appears in your questbook, but there is no way to leave that area. the game is...well ... "over" at that point. you really have to go back to an older save. I do not like that, but there is no other way....

I don't think they can. The DLC isn't cracked, it's just repacked with the format the Tool-Set uses so the game thinks it's activated. Works like a mod then.

In order to start your progress at RtO you must use save called "Epilogue" (or something like that) with black picture near it.

The DLC will load fine but after you install it a message will pop up stating that you installed content that requires a newer version than you have.

OMFG... Cailan's twohandsword is already in the game. But it seems it doesn't really relate to him though.

finished return to osty, and it really felt like a bit of a letdown. i wasnt realistically expecting much in terms of story (everyone got whupped in a battle... hard to add anything storywise in the battleground...)... problem is that it just felt a little cheap. some nice gear, but it overall felt pretty shoddy... and there were some level design issues, like missing surfaces n shit. feels kinda rushed. overall, the weakest of the dlc mission packs, easily.
only high point was Spoiler: | seeing cailans body - i liked the character, so seeing him that way kinda added a bit of emotional 'oomph' to what was otherwise a pretty shallow mission... kinda sad to see, but its kinda what i was expecting (seeing his body), but yeah.. was well handled, and i liked it for creating a bit of an emotional scene. |
end boss was a pussy though.

yeah but i thought they said it was ready apart from some 'serious' issue or something, which i doubt was a couple of walls missing . and yeah i figured it was an issue because it wasnt final, but i highly doubt the finished thing is going to be amazingly different... the whole thing felt sloppy, not just the surface issue.
and its not like i havent found surface/clipping issues in their previous dlc packs
all that being said though, ill likely download RtO again, when the final version comes out - we'll see if its better.

Yeah, thanks, got it!
Now I could start it. Well, this DLC is not really remarkable, I think, pretty linear and boring. A line of fights against groups of darkspawn and a red boss at the end. OK, at least the items arent that bad and you see what happened to the king.... its pretty easy, too.
Looks as if it was designed to be played before the final battle, because if you do you could make things easier for your party due to the good items you can find. That may lower the high difficulty. If you already have a high-level party its rather useless.
If thats the case I dont understand why its being published so late, when most players already have beaten the mainquest.... they should have published it with the other DLCs when the game hit the market.

lmao one thing which makes me annoyed and lol at the same time is that all the human types inc. elves have the same body structure. My eyes are still scarred from looking at wynne in underwear... oh lord. Bioware better introduce different body shapes for the love of god. Everyone can NOT have the same size.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Can you post pics of Cailan's body? And well just spoil everything for me. End boss, what Alistair says, etc. Cause I can't be arsed to play it for just that.
Thanks.

The pic was already posted. You want a roundup?
Here it comes.
The first thing you have to do to start RtO is to go to an new spot on your worldmap after Lothering. It's like in TSP. You'll be in a part of an forest and observing a bunch of mercs that harass one guy in the "King's Guards" outfit. The mercs gonna stab the guy and you'll gonna kill those mofos. Then you speak to the guard wo tells you that he had the quest to hide the sword, the shield of Cailan's father (King Maric) and some documents in a chest. He hided the key in the bottom of an statue (In reality it's a pile of rocks, maybe the statue was destroyed while the siege was going on). The dude dies and you'll gonna back to Ostagar via the worldmap.
Bam! You instantly appear in the poor made snowy version of Ostagar which is crowded by Darkspawn (Most of them are 1hit kills like the ones in the Deep Roads). The firs thing you'll gonna do is laughing, cause everything there is so poorly made. The signs (Magi Camp, King's Tent) are still standing, half sunken in snow and the mage's chest is still there too (But it seems you can do the quest now if you hadn't before. The key seems to be by the corpse of the guy who was caged at the beginning. But I don't know that. I did the quest before).
There is mostly no dialogue in RtO. Even Alistair plays the quiet one.
You're running around, killing darkspawn, clicking spots like the forge or the fire where duncan stood at the beginning. There are Darkspawn Elites who got one piece of the King's armor and you have to find them all, cause it's a quest. You'll find the pile of rocks with the key too and you're able to loot the King's treasure chest. In there are the only Codex entrys. Those are quite interesting. I think it's the only interesting thing in the whole DLC. You've got the sword and shield of King Maric too (Cailan's father). The sword... I have to say it... is the same model as Starfangs 1H version (the one you've get from the meteor piece and can be forged while you play Warden's Keep) but with golden runes on it. The shield is the same as the Cousland Family or Redcliffe shield with another symbol. After some fighting, you'll come to the bridge (The one on the picture above where Cailan is left for the fun). The first tiny dialogue happens and some random cuts of the Ostagar siege movie is cutted together. Tryin to be a sad moment while there are some scenes which switching to Cailans body and your PC's cryin face. At this moment there is nothing you can do about the King's situation. You can click the corpse and Allistair is saying some words... nothing important at last. You'll go further, some fighting, some treasure and some armor pieces later you'll stand infront of the tower of Ishael again. Guess what... you'll have to go in there again and mostly nothing has changed. You fighting, fighting and fighting (looting armor pieces and a quite decent 2H maul) until you reach the hole in the ground. You'll gonna down there and will start laughing again. I thought I have ported my party to the temple in the Brecilian forest. Guess what? More fighting, looting and no dialogue. This time you'll fighting spiders and.... Darkspawn. After some fights and good laughs you'll get to daylight again. Now, you'll standing under the bridge where the King and Duncan (possibly) been killed. All the time you were chasing an Darkspawn Necromancer.
Now you have to fight the revived Ogre (which was killed by Duncan in the siege movie) who still got Duncan's sword and dagger sticking in his chest. After you killed him you're able to loot those. Then you'll have to kill the Darkspawn Necromancer and loot your last armor piece. The helmet. After that, you'll go back to the cave (lol) and a cutscene starts. You're immediatly on the bridge again and some poor dialogue happens again. You're now able to choose what happens to Cailan's body. You're able to burn him, feed him to the wolves or let him there. The End....
Did I mention that I laughed the whole time I played this piece of shit?

Wonder if anything will be changed in the "release" version of this, found the content OK but as the above summary says it's a bit poorly constructed though it does allow you to grab some stuff if you missed it earlier (Including "Dog" based on the DLC description when looked at trough that content loader screen.) though the reward armor and weapon "set" is pretty effective but it's basically the same models as the base game used which is a bit unfortunate.
(And as another person mentioned what did happen to the two-hander Cailan wore during the battle, of course Yusaris and Shaperate's Blessing has the same model so you can already have a similar blade and both of those are quite effective although obviously not on par with stuff like the Starmetal swords, the longsword model which is partly based on that "Keening" blade you can get and which is also further changed in this DLC with glowmapped runes.)
EDIT: For a free mod though it's pretty OK as a simple hack&slash adventure but I would probably not pay for it (Especially as DLC has to be bought via "points" instead of directly and you do expect a bit more quality and content from premium stuff like this, kinda comparable to Fighters Stronghold in Oblivion to a degree, atleast it's not as much of a letdown as the "horse armor" pack there, heh.)

Isn't it that you're only able obtain Shaperate's Blessing via a mod or console?
And yeah, Starfang (1h) is based on the Keening Blade. I never equipped it though so I wasn't aware that it's the base model for the Starfang and Maric's sword.
Got better swords at the point I obtained it.
