Wouldn't going slower create more pollution since it has time to settle? Least it feels that way in a traffic jam. Not a scientific analysis I agree but still, would have thought the faster you go the more force and the more displacement from other cars.

considering that for example diesel powered cars have the most economic fuel usage at 90 km/h, it's quite idiotic. less fuel used = less pollution!

It's all bullshit and I'm referring to the consensus on what's 'green' and what's not. Cars are very visible and therefore an easy and politically correct target. How about the fact that dogs are responsible for more pollution than SUVs!

Wouldnt going slower increase the amount of time your engine is running, and offset the benefit?
Two hour trip turns into two hour and twenty minute trip. You know what causes the least auto pollution? Already beeing there with the engine OFF. Im not talking about mashing the gas, and racing somewhere, but normal acceleration to speed, and maintaining that cruising speed.

Are you sure that the decrease in speed limits in Norway are because of pollution?
We have had speed limits decreased at alot of roads in Sweden from 90 to 80, but the reason is not pollution.

...and iv seen those MKAD vids on youtube
Don't exactly remember the speed limit trough Göteborg but you could drive faster, and the traffic was pretty fluid. But driving trough Copenhagen was a dream, 110 km/h limit |
Hehehe MKAD Yeah, folks are doing up to 300 km/h and there is also ape crazy sport bike madmen in there Oh, and speed limit on MKAD is 100 km/h(or is it 130 km/h , can't remember) as it's a highway.
Actually it's strange to limit speed on highways, maybe in Oslo a lot of folks don't pay attention to safe driving distance and this why authorities lowering speed limit ?
