Hi All, Just need some help from you techys really, just wanted to know if this is worth upgrading or will it run fine and dandy for another year or so?

E6700 Dual Core @ 3gb
ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i
4Gb OCZ DDR2 PC2-9200 FlexXLC Edition @ 1150MHz
ATi 3850

I'm going to upgrade the graphic card IF I dont need to upgrade the current system above.

Thanks for your advice Smile

He already has it at 3 GHz I think, otherwise he has remarkable skills in micro engineering to expand his cache to 3 GB? Very Happy

With my low budget rig

E6600 Dual Core @ 3Ghz
2GB DDR2
Ati 4870

I'm playing smootly all* the recent games Wink

*except GTAIV, the worst optimized game ever Laughing

so my advice is: change the videocard with a brand new 5xxx and you'll be fine for 1-2 years.
If you look at the 2010 PC games release list you'll surely notice that 90% of them are multiplatform; and this pratically means only one thing: you won't need any uber-rig to play them smoothly.
Some of them will probably also incude some dx11 effects (AVP3, for example), but I really doubt that any software house could develope a dx11-only game in the near future...

My E6550 @2.8GHz Dual core with 8800GT plays all the latest games fine (except for GTA4 as previously mentioned). So yeah, that rig is fine.

Everytime I OC my E6550 to 2.8 (from 2.3) I get blue screen of death. Must be memory or something. Whatever. still runs all games fine at 2.3

Jesus, how did you overclock 6600 to 3Ghz? I can only dream about that. Got it to 2.4 and in the summer I'm around 60 degrees Celsius Sad

In any case, kalato, your video card is the problem. Get a 4870 and you're okay for a while.

what? e6600@2.4ghz is default clock lul
anyway my e6600 overclocked easily to 3ghz with several mobos, idle 30 load never reaches 50 with cpu stress apps, something is srsly wrong at your end, it's either sink not touching cpu very well or it's simply shittier than intel cooler or u got very bad/broken exemplar, last one is highly unlikely

btw your sig says e6300, which is different cpu, but also easily overclockable to 3ghz, hell my e2180 runs @3ghz super cool with stock intel cooler for the past couple of years

Funny how I got that Fenrir and even my q9550 stock seems to idle around 50-55 while doing normal things on my desktop - although when I leave the heat off the house reaches 55F while I'm at work during night time when I get back idle temps show 30-35 then quickly jump up to 40-45 then 50-55 after I start using my PC.

I think I might actually return this cooler if I can't remedy the problem within the next few days...
