Ahahaha! I love you man, thanks tons! I'm gonna flash it before bed ^_^ I got lucky as my Asus board has the ICH9 chipset which flashed my old Bennie perfectly, no need for the VIA card.

I just PMed you in reply. Basically wondering/hoping the method still applies to the 74850c (if I have that one) and what to do about PortIO on x64.

74850c will need hardware CK3/xtractor etc . Can be done in dos with dosflash and the original lo83 app that was released. Google should have info on lo83 for you

Blegh... knowing my, extremely bad, luck; I'll have the 74850c. Also a road-block on the PortIO thing too, trying to find an updated DOSflash tutorial is a right royal PITA :/
*keeps looking*

FUCK MY LIFE.
*sigh* Guess what LiteOn I have? The 74850c. I must have the world's only 360 made in March 2009 that comes with the ORIGINAL, first-run, LiteOn drive.

@sabin
If you already have ixtreme on it you don't need all the other dumping shit anymore, you can dump the dummy.bin from ixtreme through jungleflasher while the drive is connected to SATA and powered by any source you want/have (X360 console in my situation). Erasing/Writing the firmware is also done only with those connections. And if you have the dummy.bin from before then again you don't need anything other than the SATA connection to reflash.
That's what I did since my 74850C was already flashed to ixtreme when I bought it.
But you must use a 32bit OS because of port-io, the VIA SATA card is not mandatory. I did it with my onboard Intel ICH9 SATA controller. ....and I had to install XP because of the stupid signing issues with portio on 64bit (dual booting with 7/Vista not recommended, better put it on a separate HDD and pull out the W7/Vista...XP f'ed up my boot sector for W7).
-------------------
Well, I got the impression you already have it flashed, if not then you need either that CK3 thing or do it yourself for almost free if you have the tools, skills and time.

Question: Do I absolutely positively NEED the CK3 Connectivity Kit? Can't I just use the Probe to unlock the drive whilst it's connected directly to my PC via SATA and 360 via power cable? I'm still worrying about the CK3 (he has the CK3 Lite, which only works on COM Ports) not working on my comp.
Thanks again for all the help! |
As far as I can remember, no you don't need the kit, it just makes things a whole heap easier as it has eject and power buttons on the board. When you get the Key for a liteon I'm sure it requires you to eject a couple of times and when you've got hands on the probe and the drive etc, it makes it easier.
But no, I'm 99% sure you don't actually need the kit. Its been months since I flashed though so I may be wrong.

Well apparently my mate HAS got the CK3-Pro (USB available) so I think I'm in the clear. I'll use the CK3 via USB, as well as the Probe, thanks to the Win7-x64 guide/tools I found. But thanks anyway, I appreciate all the input and help =)
Does anyone have any experience with DosFlash64?

Not that its any help, but my only experience is it crashed the hell out of my PC. I was running XP64 and never found the reason for it.
