I don't get it. RAM is dirt cheap, why didn't they just put 2 gig of RAM in the PS3? Sure, it was more expensive when the PS3 launched, but still it would have only been like $10 more, and would have owned anything. And with that $600 starting price, who would have cared about paying a bit more?
Or am I missing something?
and i don't get it WHY THE FUCK DID THEY ADD in a 8 core console a card comparable to GF 7900 when GF 8800 where in PCs back in 2007 and why not add 512 ram for Graphics and 512ram for processes

it like you would have a intel Quadro 4ghz with only 256ram , a Gf 7900 256ram and a 250gig HDD ... cpu is ok gpu is okish kinda but ram DAMN thats overkill

Woohoo!! I just got my 360 back! My wife bought me a new Arcade from GameStop in town. Jasper manufactured in March 09 (LiteOn drive, but luckily not the new unflashable one) for 995kr. I've still got my Elite 120GB, so I'll be using that.

I need to get a new Live sub (my old one ran out) and also find out how to flash the LiteOn... ack.

If you buy x360 than you'll see God of war 3 and you'll regret it. PS 3 is the best Smile
+1

Not to mention Uncharted 1 and 2, Demon Souls, MGS4, Heavenly Sword and just about any PS3 exclusive. Bluray!!! If you cannot afford to buy games and are going to flash, buy the X360 but be prepared for a possible banning. You will still be able to play downloaded games but you won't be able to play them on XLive.

PS3 was the best purchase I have made in the last few years!

the cell was originally intended to do all of the graphics rendering, late in the PS3 development cycle they opted to addon a GPU. The RSX does the pixel work and the static gemoetry stuff, the CELL does much more complex tasks. the Parallel achitecture when used properly is exactly why you get amazing looking games like unchartered 2 and killzone 2. And is excatly why crossplatform games can be a little less flattering on PS3 hardware. Most cross platform games are built around standard directx toolsets then a team port or...well i guess localise the game to run on ps3 hardware whilst not capitalising on the benefits by using the rendering on the ps3 effectivly, and by that i mean use more trandtional rendering paths which the PS3 can also do (usually due to budget and time constraints, and developers not wanting to rewrite significant portions of rendering code)

A friend of mine who has worked at Ubisoft for quite some time has dicussed this with me in the past, now i'm not saying every game dev does this but he seems pretty confident most corss platform devs build alot of the game on the most common toolsets then have a team that work on the ps3 hardware localisation

Unfortunately 1.61 IXtreme is not available yet for the Lite-On. You can flash it to 1.60 and use the activate.iso to play wave 4. I have a Benq 1.61 flashed and my step-daughter's boy friend has a Lite-On 74850c which can be flashed without the probe!! Yes! Happy for him, since he bought one of the many banned consoles on Craig's List on purpose, doesn't care about Live.

Aww nuts Sad I guess Jungle/c4eva are just deliberately delaying it to force the sale of iXtreme LT. Fiddlesticks Sad

Ok, so when I flash to 1.6 - I'd have to use the Activate.iso every time I want to load a Wave4/5 game - right? I don't have to use the banhammer-magnet method of patching the games?

Safest way is to use the activate.iso because its most likely not detectable as the game you boot looks legit. But then again seems like MS know how to detect modded firmware Sad We will probably see same ban numbers next November Sad
