ps3 for free online, but a lousy selection of games - 90% of which are also on the 360, looking and running better as well.
xbox for free offline, but with a high chance (30-50%) of it dying an overheating-induced death.
There. Perfectly balanced pros and cons.

ps3 for free online 80% of games are on both consoles (some 360 fans suggest that the console renders better than the ps3 but it ain't so) the rest are amongst some of the best games ever made.
xbox for free offline with a high chance of dying through overheating AND receiving a permanent ban for 'free' offline but has a superior online model currently.
There, perfectly balanced cons and pro's.

That's an interesting way of describing it, I too enjoy gaming more on the PS3 for some reason and will always buy a PS3 version over a 360's.
However, some of my favourite games are on a 360 so....... |

Uhhh... no. Check out any of the hardware head-to-head previews and you'll see; 360 versions ALWAYS look and run better.

tis true, the 360 is better at lighting, a lot better. i have an unhacked 360 and love it. i want a ps3 for uncharted, uncharted 2 and the god of war collection because they all look amazing

Sabin is wrong because only most of the games look better on the xbox, not all. Whats funny is that there are I think more major multi platform releases at 1080 on the xbox than on the ps3, which was supposed to be the ultimate and definite 1080 gaming console.

Please not another console war, it belittle's us all.
Let's just say different people see things differently, for every 'the 360 is the greatest' article there are five more 'PS3 is the best' pieces on other websites/journals.
Some gamers prefer one console over others, good on them woo hoo.

To be perfectly honest, I prefer the PS3 for blue rays and free online play. But when it comes down to it, graphically and play wise there isnt any real difference to write home about, I think the PS3 is more capable then the Xbox 360, but that depends on how far the developer is willing to go to unlock the power of the PS3. Overall the gaming experience is going to be more or less the same.

As most of the developers admit: the 360 has reached the end of its content cycle in terms of quality/performance while the PS3 is just getting started, MS realise that and have subsequently drawn up plans for its replacement already.

What and have to keep turning up my home theatre system in order to drown out the clattering of the console, thanks but no thanks.
Best of both worlds is having a PS3 for exclusives and streaming blu ray content as well as free online and the 360 as a backup for offline and meh titles. |

No offence, but your opinion is hardly unbiased, mate :\ Yes the PS3 has some cracking titles (Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Heavy Rain) but to say it has "the bestest evah!!11" titles while saying the 360 only has "meh titles" is insulting and incredibly fanboyish.

wait til you see the lighting on killzone 2 and uncharted 2, way ahead of anything ive seen on my 360. most new cross platform games it really is hard to tell the differences and you have to be a pretty anal person to nitpick over the little differences. The biggest thing PS3 has against it is the fact hat most multiplatform games have been built on directx toolset then ported across, because the majority of first party games look stunning. So i think the "lighting is better" thing is a product of this, the lighting is certainly not better when you compare it to sonys first party games

But you are right I am biased, everyone is biased and if they insist they're not I call them a liar.
But I will say what I always say: I go with the title NOT the console but with that in mind £$ for £$ the PS3 (for me) is king, not just for gfx or awesome media capability but the overall experience, however I don't dismiss the amazing contribution the 360 has made to gaming in the last 3 years. I cannot wait to see the next generation xbox; if they deal with the quality issues (esp the awful noise) I will pick up a launch package.

What is the main fault in multi-platform console games , the answer is simple : they are build for a 512 ram system = xbox360 , when PS3 has 256ram for processes and 256ram for textures ....
think about it ...
as a example :
a xbox360 game uses 324ram for textures and 127ram for data =451 ram used
when you port it to ps3 you have to make those textures FIT in those 256 available ram so what you do is compress the shit out of it OR make a hack that counts the 256+256 as 512ram
thats why it was said that the PS3 is a bitch to program , new processor that works different then others and a ram debacle

I don't get it. RAM is dirt cheap, why didn't they just put 2 gig of RAM in the PS3? Sure, it was more expensive when the PS3 launched, but still it would have only been like $10 more, and would have owned anything. And with that $600 starting price, who would have cared about paying a bit more?
Or am I missing something?

Surely sales go up when a console is hacked, but still it's probably more profitable when it's not hacked...
