Damn, this show is nothing as I expected it to be, I'm on episode 7 now, and it already happened so many stuff, Dirty Cop, Cop Killing, Racism, Gay Cop, Abused Children, Serial Killer.
I had no idea this show was this good, the acting is superb, the camera shots, everything.
Will it keep up until the end?

it gets more and more brutal as it goes on, the first season is extremely light compared to the rest.

The Shield just gets better and better. The final season is AMAZING. It's hands down the best cop show I've ever seen. Personally I think it's much better than The Wire. Yeah, I'm sure The Wire fanboys will be jumping all over me about how their show is the greatest social commentary written post Charles Dickens. But what can I say, "Possible Kill Screen / Family Meeting" kicked the living crap out of "-30-". And Vic Mackey could beat down Jimmy McNulty with his eyes closed.

I really don't see how you can compare the two. And that last sentence probably says a lot about why you prefer the shield.

Well.. they both feature cops and robbers, and they are both some of the absolutely best series within their genres. The problem is that some people tend to think that the respective genres are one and the same: cops and robbers. This is of course not the case.

They're both very good but for different reasons. I happen to prefer The Shield slightly more than The Wire though because I got so into all the characters and towards the end it's a pretty gut ripping ride.
The Wire is still a fucking amazing show.

Also his comment about appearing intelligent is due to the fanbase The Wire has. I know people who actually hated the show yet still say it's their favorite in public to look good, lol.

Thats is the most fucked up and idiotic thing I have ever read. The Wire has superlative writing, the story arc and characters are engrossing. If you don't like it fair enough, but don't insult people that do. Moron!

Both shows are awesome, but totally different. The Wire is a detective show, and The Shield is abour moral dillemas and dirty cops mostly.
Fuck, i love those two shows...If i HAD to choose i would have chosen The Shield for the mix of action and drama (The Wire has less action but is more focused (and more accurate) on an ordinary detective's job)
Stared watching The Shield, im finishing the 3rd season AWS.

Well, I'm absolutely loving The Shield, I'm halfway through season 2 now, and it has been a perfect ride so far, the excellent acting never let's down, and the pacing of each episode is relentless, this is really an outstanding TV series!!

1-2-3 are considered the weak seasons. Wait until you reach S4 and Glenn Close joins (and others, namely the above quote I put and my rage he didn't get an Emmy for his role). Season 5 is easily the best.

And Chiklis brought his daughter to be Mackey's daughter, she is also very annoying.
