BAH! My mom really likes Top Gun so I don't even know how many goddamn times I've had to listen to that since I was a kid... Overall tho, 80's movie themes were so badass, 90's and especially this decade doesn't have anywhere near as awesome tracks. I'm more of an instrumental fan, but is great
hahahahahahaha, i still have a Lita Ford LP here. Together with one by Vixen. Tried to sell em a few times, but nobody wanted them. I wonder why that is?
I remember 70s and 80s music as well.
In the 80s the music industry became digital and to be honest I really hate the sound of the typical 80s music, it is so awfully 80s.
The analogue music from the 70s and yes even the 60s I like that a lot more.
During the 90s the digital music became a lot better fortunately.
some examples:
"Knight Rider" theme (80s):
"Doctor Who" theme (60s):
"Doctor Who" theme (80s):
Btw "Doctor Who" has been called the SF series with the coolest sound track.
It is also the longest running SF series.
There is no accounting about taste I guess.
Thing I wanted to make clear here is that the "digital" sound of the 80s was actually worse then the analogue sound of the 70s, but then again maybe you guys are to young to be able to make a good comparison...

Most stuff in the 80´s was still done analog.
On a sidenote music was pretty much pressed to it´s limits then as well. The furious speed and harshness is still setting the bar.
They pretty much left the leftovers with not much else to do. That´s why pretty much evrything is crap today. I don´t need to go into radio shit, but underground scene is still compeeting with something that is hard to beat.
Radio is just mainstreamed stuff as fake as reality tv, where the producers and owners decide who we listen to and who wins.
Fuck em.
There is a rocknroll war going on. Death to posers.
Pfft. There's no accounting for taste, is there? I mean, this is what YOU get off on?
Sorry mate, but you can use the puke smiley all you want.. it doesn't change the fact that we all have our OWN tastes and interests. 80s music, to us, is the best. Deal with it :\
lol well I can deal with it Sabin, no worries.
I just hmm think I have not been able to express very well what I dislike about "typical" 80s music.
As Nailbiter stated lot of the recordings were still done analogue in the 80s but it is the digital sampling I hate so much from that time era.
Those samples were simplistic and sterile.
And for the rest well a lot of good music has been produced during the 80s of course.
Stuff I like for example is this cover of "Suzy Q" by "Creedence Clearwater Revival":
Or this for example:
Latter one is from the 80s btw, I think my musical taste is well versed.

Maybe if you listen to 80's pop, but pop music has always been crap, and always will be.
No digital sampling in proper 80's music like this:
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
