But even a rudimentary mage would autohit whereas an archer (esp. from range with range unfixed) would often miss... so the overall damage = roughly the same, or even better depending on the mob.
Add in that any special hit would take so long to actually fire that pinning shot would often hit after the mob was on you, and various abilities don't stack (rapid shot doesn't make abilities fire faster) and some actually aren't WAD, and the archery isn't properly modded by dex... yeah, archery mod is needed. At least the lite version.
Would you really use leliana in place of a healer or morrigan or a melee rogue? Unless you just want the game to be harder, and that's fine. |
You are using archers wrong. One is too low. Have two or three and you are boss killer. They are incredible against stronger creatures and mages. Their biggest weakness is early game because their best abilities are low on skill tree.
If you want even stronger archery force have in your party player character rogue, both Zevran and Leliana and convert ether Sten or Alister into archer. All rogues should have 4th level hide in shadows. Everyone should have shattering shot and arrow of slaying and about two or three party members should be a bit of a hybrids with good armour and constitution.
Then theres also very important how you play with that army. You must not play like you do with warriors or mages. You must skirmish and constantly use hide in shadows whenever possible. Always have party on hold formation and spread your force wide. Enemies will usually go for one or two party members and the rest will be able to get criticals from behind.

He's right though; make good games (not some streamlined accessible bullshit) and remove rental copy protection crap from your games, and a lot of pirates will buy the games.
Edit: Now I read the article Good job for creating more pirates! Well, but what can you do. As long as there are idiots that are willing to shell out cash for nothing basically, that's a good marketing strategy.

Ok guys, I need a little help with dragon scale armor...
Spoiler: | Ok, I've killed High Dragon during "Urn" quest and slayed few dragonlings and got scales. Wade for 10G makes armor, but it is light. While I don't have any rouge character in my party I just don't need it. I know that u can get heavy one, and that's what I want. But I don't see anywhere proper guide how to get that.
Second craft?
Where to find victims, to get materials?

Pay him for the first one. He'll be upset with his work and vow to do better, bring him more Drake scales to get the 2nd set of armour - and pay him again. Once he's done that, he'll make you one out of the Dragon scale you got from the high dragon, to get the best armour in the game - and you can choose Light/Medium/Heavy

Ok thanks guys for info, but I think i need more idiot guide...
Spoiler: | I got one scale from high dragon and around 3-4 from smaller-lings (I am @work now, can't check precisly). I pay him 10G and he makes light armor. Than he says bring me more. Where to get more? So far I've killed HighDragon (got scale), few smaller at the cave earlier (3-4), I've killed flemeth but she gave me only key as she was shapeshifter not real dragon.
Where to get more of them for Wade?
i know I shall pay him to get better one, I've googled so far. I've finished many PC RPGs so far, but this time i need more idiot guide. Sorry.
|
Thanks in advance.

There are exactly 6 Drake scales in the Urn quest dungeon. This is enough to make 2 sets of Wade's Drakeskin Armour. Pay him for both sets and then give him the Dragon scale for the best possible armour.

I gave DA another try with patch 1.02, because I don't fancy all that combat pausing. So I started new game on Easy difficulty. Game's a blast! Happy I haven't missed this gem after all.

Easy difficulty is the best IMHO. I have been playing on Medium(Normal ?!) difficulty, first completed the elf forest, next wizard tower and went to the dwarf city, as soon as I went down the caves in where I switched to easy, cause there were so many mobs, sometimes it felt like I was playing Diablo. Eventually, it got very tiresome to play it tactically as it always the same steps, the same spells combos so I switched to easy, with combat system as it's now I wish there were another step between Easy and Medium though. But ultimately I wish that the number of mobs would decrease as the difficulty gets higher
Still haven't finished the game yet, taking a rest from it for some time for now.

Finished my first playthru a couple of days ago. What a great game!
For the stats, just used a single character for now, played as human warrior, hard difficulty, 89 hours of play, 50% completion at the end.
I decided to go at it again, this time with an elf mage. Was thinking at first to do it on medium, but I actually started on nightmare and I'm dying less than the first playthru (maybe due to mage power, or to being now used to the combats)

I love some of the main themes as well, but there are instances with some really annoying combat music.

well i just said fuck it. i got to some point in some place where i got swamped by like 47 fucking giant rabid war dogs, got my ass fucking diced three ways before i hit the dirt, fucking rage quit, and rolled a new character
im just not into this micro managing bullshit, so im not a fan of these 4-person rpg'dealies... but whatever... the game IS fun, and i DO like games where LEWT is involved, and the characters are fun etc etc, so yeah. rolled a new one, took my time with it, started figuring out tactics (still doing it manually, works better for me than that fucking tactics screen bs), realised i had TWO weapon sets available (wewt), started leveling characters properly - depending on their roles in the party, and yeah... going a lot better this time around, im not losing any characters during battle (apart from the occasional death) - and yeah, feeling better about my character this time.
also, epic screen :
...well i liked it at least

Well... I've finished it and I must say game is only "OK"ish...
- story is just poor, when comparing to Torment for example, half of the game you're trying to get Urn, 2nd u're reaching landmeet; most side quest are borrrring.
- camera simply sucks, when above you can't move far away from your character, and overshoulder doesn't help at all during fights,
- only few interesting sets and weapons, nothing really fancy or interesting; at least armors look like they are actually protecting, not Dungeon Siege 2 like crap.
- nothing interesting in chests and this kills rogoue class,
- talks - well dialogues comparing to ImbaWitcher are just boooring; so generic, so typical, 1 options is : i will help you, next 2 are few details about quest, 4 is answer no. Nothing really interesting is going there...nothing really kicks ass... At least teammates talks between themselves it helps a bit,
- you can't hear your hero... it doesn't help to feel atmopshere...
At first I thought about this as GOTY, but this is just a good work. Nothing imba.

The .dll is for the game explorer used in Vista/Windows 7, unsure what this one fixes though as that bug was for the 1.1a update, second file contains a list of developer script commands used via the console for debugging though it might have other uses as well from what I remember.
