Anyone tried to put it on a DVD instead of CD's? Worked fine to install from a DVD with KOTOR, so I hope it works with this release too, i hate CD's Evil or Very Mad

just mount the images and dont burn them then n00b. Razz

Umm.. perhaps i'd like to have it on DVD anyways, *removed*...

That must be a bug in the game not the release, are you shure you have met minimum system requirements?

Game is great. Great voice acting, atmosphere, music, and the "feel" of the first Kotor is intact. Good story, maybe the beginning is predictable, but nonetheless the plot is valid. Yes, there are bugs, and if you don't want them you can stop playing games on your Pc and enjoy some Ps2 bullshit in 800x600

Graphics aren't exactly top notch, they just do their work decently, but hey, if you want a linear and boring game to show off last generation eye-candy, play Half-life 2!
Kotor 2 and Rome total war are probably the most solid games out since...err...a lot of time.

If you would have just explained how u like this game, i would have said thanks for the info.
But no you had to run down on other games that have nothing to do with this topic, so now i gotta say STFU Half-Life 2 is a great game, linear or not and you sir is a moron.

Why did u have to do it the hard way? Laughing

Once again I agree. Wink

Played it some and i must say that the graphics aren't anything special, but they are slightly better than KOTOR 1, though now that HL2 and D3 and such games are on the market KOTOR 2 looks like shit. It's your graphicall acceptance bar that got raised by playing such games. It's all about the gameplay here folks.

Been playing for some hours last night, and my first impression was: Damn, i must have installed Kotor 1 and not Kotor 2, untill i noticed that both games not only look alike but also play alike. It's more like an expansion with a new plot.

One thing annoys me though. When you move around with your character, the camera does not follow you, i mean like in max payne for example, there the viewing angle stays behind the character and follows the movement. Does anyone know how i can turn this on (couldn't find an option for that), i don't think it was like that in the first part.

Yeah I don't know why the hell they fiddled with the camera... The camera angles from the first game was good as it is, now I can't even move the camera without panning up or down. Who the hell needs to move the camera up and down in a game like this?

Also, I don't know what the correct term is, but I'm getting some texture problems. It looks like "shards" coming out from an object or something, it's pretty annoying.

For those who want to make a DVD out of it here how to do it.

-Extract the content of all 4 images in folders with IsoBuster
-Name the folders with the cd label
-Open nero to make a data DVD
-Add the content of the first CD without the folder
-Add all 3 other folders in there
-Name the DVD KOTOR2
-Burn
-In installation when it prompt for CD2 just browse the DVD for KOTOR2_2

Here's a screenshot on how my DVD looks like.

WTF? 1 thing i loved KOTOR1 was that there was near to none wandering for nothing. For the first hour or so , i've been stompin this fcuking station around, and nothing seems to be happening. Blegh.. guess i'm drunk, but if this continues, i for 1 , forgetting to buy this.

Here is my, hm, review of it, for those that are still deciding to download it or not.

Release info for: Star_Wars_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II

|.:.MisterX & MisterY.:.:.. \ \\/ // | ||\/\| ||::.::.:::.Site Scripts V1.2Neutral
`--\_______________/---------\___//--|_||\//|_||---------\_________________/'

4 CDs
CD 1: kotor2a.001-051
CD 2: kotor2b.001-053
CD 3: kotor2c.001-053
CD 4: kotor2d.001-046
Fixes: Star_Wars_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II_Rarfix (for missing 025-file on cd1)

I have played 12~ hours so far so this isnt a review of the whole game but as i said just a hint for those that are still uncertain, i will just break this up in pros and cons.

The pros marked with a * are also found in cons.

Pros
- Feel: If i did not know i would still think that Bioware was the developer, Obsidian has done a good job.
- Travel: New instant port-system to ease down the running.
- Mini-games: The racing has been upgraded with the ability to jump and more. Pazaak is still there.
- Characters*: Again, good job Obsidian. The characters feel just as alive as in the first game. Also smart usage of the kotor1 characters. Dont see them much but when you do you feel for/with them.
- Character development: Very nice, you dont HAVE to talk to them as much as kotor1 but if you do you get pretty interesting conversations. The fact that your friends follow you to either the light or the dark side is very nice as well.
- Bashing*: You can finally use the lightsaber in the way that it is used in the episdoe 1 movie (basically just breaking the door open with the saber, no more doorwhacking needed). If you bash a container smaller items in it might break.
- Crafting: There is a crafting-system, those that play MMORPGS will understand what i mean, which is nice although a bit simple.
Items*: Much more items than the first game and finally you have use for your Light/Medium/Heavy-armor feats while using robes.
- Graphics*: The graphics IS updated.

Cons:
- Graphics*: But not much.
- Bugs: Still a few of them around, sound disappearing, invisible walls where you should be able to run etc. But after 12 hrs gameplay i have encountered very few and it's hardly noticable, just restart the game.
- Movies: The game is bound together by shortcuts and movies, most of these fill their purpose but some are, sadly, very poorly scripted. You will see people waiting 5 secs at a door for it to open, then waiting 10 more seconds to walk through the open door and alot more. The movies, actual movies, are recorded with the games own engine but they've managed to make it look alot worse than when you play. Why not use the games engine for this? I see no reasoning.
- Items*: The new random-item-generator (not random items but random dropplaces for most) is kind of silly, i like the idea but items worth 25000 ( like personal blasters of sith lords) credits shouldnt be dropped from random mobs/npcs.
- Bashing*: Before you get your lightsaber you have to bash some doors. Bashing doors without a lightsaber is just silly. It can take up to 5 minutes. Just swinging at it. And for a sidenote: how the hell do you, as a jedi knight, miss a door?
- Characters*: You will still have a favourite setup, they've just made this easier by allowing you to teleport other members instantly (almost anywhere) if you need their skills. You dont get a very good feel for the characters you do not play with.

All in all i really enjoy the game so far, 8/10 easily.
Its sad that this game have to prove that graphics isnt what a good game is about. Would be so nice with some updated graphics but considering the time Obsidian had to make this game i am 100% certain they spent their time well, disregarding graphics-update for the story and gameplay.
I played through kotor1 twice, i am sure i will play through this more since there seems to be many more ways to go.

Thats it for me, breakfast eaten, back to the game Wink

Simple question. How do you get the cheats to work on this game? I'm on a norwegian keyboard and using the ' + Enter key doesn't seem to want to work. Any ideas?

Baleur - Fixed your post. Try using edit next time.

javlar - Nice review, but it would be better if you post it in the review section or in the general kotor2 thread. This thread is for the release itself only.
