never mind... i've been looking for this on google for hours and i found it a couple of minutes after posting this.
for those interested: i needed to download and install an app "afc2" from cydia, reboot and now iphone explorer grants access to the root.

so i've been having fun with it for a day or so now. what are the most usefull apps you installed? i'm currently checking out some games on it and some of them are kind of good. Worms, Bejewelled 2 and modern combat :sandstorm are the ones i kept.

Gooooal (The best app for football fans, gives you the scores in real time like an sms)
LogMeIn (Access your cpu remotely)
Eurosport
Shazam
IM+ (Best msn client)

Don't forget to get Terminal from Cydia to change your root password. And let me repeat that.. CHANGE YOUR ROOT PASSWORD. ;p |

They are, though some might not be available in your region and thats where jailbreaking comes into play.

I'm having a similar issue. The phone jailbreaks fine, install cydia, get afc2add and install it and it puts my iphone into recovery mode and the only thing that I can do is restore from iTunes. Anyone have any idea why?

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it working by running blackra1n again.
