Got an explorer 2002 and I replaced the battery and now my key fob won't disable the alarm because the cock sucking motherfuckers in Ford didn't think of putting a separate battery for the alarm memory and it's linked directly to the car's battery. So I called Ford and they said there should be a valet override button underneath the dashboard.

I can't find this fucking button! I googled and asked people but no one knows! The internet shows thousands of cases like mine, but not one of these morons thought of making a video showing how to fix it, or put a picture of the fucking override button once it has been found.

Is there anyone here who can help me with this sour pickle I've gotten myself into?

Fixed the fucking thing! Sorta...

The button I was looking for was right next to the steering wheel and all I had to do is take out the wires from the alarm box and push the button for two second while the key is turned to acc mode.

It works but now every time I wanna start the car I have to push the so called "valet" button and start it, while the "theft" indicator is still illuminated. Guess it's better than nothing.

Bottom line: buy an explorer and be branded a thief while driving it.

This is just the beginning of your problems with ford. You are a ford owner now--get used to Fixing Or repairing Daily F-O-R-D.

dunno, I rented (yeah, I live in the city so we only rent cars) a 2009 Focus SES coupe, and it was actually pretty decent to drive.

but yeah, I guess I like smaller cars and would never touch an explorer/escape/etc. actually looking forward to the new Verve sedan, seems like a half decent shitbox to run errands in... better than an Accent anyways Wink

Ahh,. you rented a brand new ford. Now, thats OK. Give it a few years and you will see how poorly they are made. Sure, they look good and run great out of the lot..but put some miles on them and things will go bad. Nice looking car though. I would lease that..but never own it.

yeah, that's the problem with not commuting in a car, you don't put enough kms (or I guess miles in your case Wink) to make a lease worth it. I fucking hate used/old cars, new cars = ftw. Which I guess is why I don't have a car atm.

The newer Fords might hold up pretty good in the long run (well, compared to previous years), but I have full understanding for what you're saying todd. A pre-2000 Ford is probably the last thing I'll own, next to an old french car. Ugh :/

Got a ford van with over 150(k) miles on the clock, and although it's (literally) falling apart the thing still runs, and runs, and runs. Cheap to buy, cheap to run. Can't complain when it gets the job done.

It's falling apart after just 150 miles? That doesn't sound very good at all... Very Happy Wink
