Apparently there aren't "english only" subs on the m-district9-720p release. It's either subs on, or subs off.

If you want subs for the NON-english parts only, get them here:

Right, can someone explain something to me.

I use Vista and Vista Media Centre. As you know, this plays video through Windows Media Player.

WTF is with subtitles? If i enable subtitles in WMP or within Haali, then everything is subtitled (not just non-english speaking parts). If I disable subtitles, then I get ... no subtitles on any part. I downloaded the .srt that has JUST non-english parts, and put in same directory as the .mkv file.

However, windows media player / centre still doesn't use the additional .srt file - just either the embedded subs or none at all...! Of course, loading up MPC-HT, that somehow uses the .srt as subs and works fine. However, using MPC-HT isn't an option, as I use the machine as a media centre and thus i'm reliant on Windows Media Player / Centre.

Is there something I'm missing? It's so annoying to be watching a film, to then find out after 30 minutes there are non-english parts, and then have to get up, load MPC-HT, and skip to that correct bit to continue. And even then, if I cannot find a seperate .srt for non-english parts only.

WTF is with all the mkvs contains subtitles for ALL parts, and not just non-english?

What video decoder do you use? If you use ffdshow then activate the subtitle component and specify the file you want to use. If you use a different decoder you can still tell ffdshow to postprocess the decoded video by activating "raw video" in the codecs settings.

Just beware if you use DXVA, it doesn't like additional filters like ffdshow. In that case you would need to remux the mkv file into a new file with the additional subtitles: download this tool , add the old mkv, add the new subtitles, specify a filename and click the multiplex button.

The Wiki release has a fixed bitrate that seems too low for shakey-cam action and it's encoded with an old version of x264 (that doesn't have the fancy new features like macroblock-tree ratecontrol and weightp). Better give the CHD one a try.

So let me get this straight, all the gore is fine, but a few "EEFFFFFFFFF" words (Rolling Eyes) is not? His wife can't enjoy a movie if someone says "fuck" but flying limbs and guts are OK? Oh dear, only in America...

And its kinda funny (ironic even ?) cause I have never meet people that swear more, in English, then Americans.
