1. Rename Saboteur.exe to UT3.exe and run it to play
2. While in game, alt-tab then ctrl-alt-delete to show task manager
3. Find UT3.exe in process tab, right click it, click set affinity, uncheck all processors, check only CPU 3 (for quad core) or CPU 1 (for core 2 duos). Press ok, minimize the task manager.
4. Go back to the game and the problem is fixed!"

Didn't work for me. Caused the game to freeze when I did it at the main menu. Might need to use a different cpu since I have 8 listed because of core i7.

Just to clarify this for myself.
Since the game doesn't start at all but gives me a nice message
"The Saboteur is unable to continue due to an error initializing your graphics hardware."

So, is this the games nice way of telling me "Go fuck yourself because your graphic card sucks ass!"?

Granted, my GFX card sucks ass, still running a good ol' Radeon x1950 here...

Try to delete your setting.ini (my Documents\my Games\Saboteur\...) and start the game without loader, use saboteur.exe. It should start in your desktop res.
I still have a CRT monitor so I still use 100Hz refresh rate and prehistoric 1024 x 1280 res.

it starts at 640x480 when deleting the file too..
But I managed to get 1280x1024 working.
I guess some res. works :\

I hate you.

Using only one Core does actually fix it but this way I get terrible performance :/

True, when i use just one core the freezes stop, but instead i get really poor performance even with everything set on low! No matter what video options i use it sticks between 15 and 20 fps

Ok, it works now - but man... I can't play it like this Sad 25-30fps and it feels laggy as all hell. Had to turn down detail settings and resolution as well. 1024 and with everything on medium (setting to low increases to around 35fps, but fugly)

Its a good thing the studio that made this game still exists so we can expect a patch to make it work on 50% of all gaming systems...

Naw, more than likely there will be a buck-passing session. Pandemic blaming ATi (it's not our fault!! it works for nVidia users!!!) and ATi blaming Pandemic (Bullshit, it works for some ATi cards but most nVidia cards, we call foul play! Fix it!)

I honestly don't expect a patch. I mean shit... Mercs2 on the PC was/is a broken mess and the only patch that came out for that did precisely dick.

Four cores with one thread each is what he means. Smile
(Should usually be 1 - 4 for the cores and 5 - 8 for the "threads" no?)

For this bat

0 = the CPU, nothing more nothing less.

if your running only 1 processor on your MB this will remain 0.

x1 is the core.

0x1 = cpu 1 core 1
0x3 = cpu 1 core 3

i7 is a quad core so you'll be using 0x1-4, choose a core 0x1 or 0x2 etc

Nah, with the i7 - it lists all the threads AS cores. So Windows will see it as an 8-core processor Smile

You missed my sarcasm. A key part of it was that pandemic got closed.
