Just to report, patch is good - performance is amazingly smooth now lol, but had to install Virtual CD to make it work. Whoever is not pressed to play this, better wait for a crack.

Do-oh!

Now I remember!

I started this idiot thread at AMD forums: http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=118976 and got banned by mod, and so on, hehehe.

Now we can enjoy the damn game, huh!

If you have an X2/Crossfire card, rename (or copy) the EXE to dirt2.exe for more performance. Laughing

I agree. It's an old-shitty-Syncmaster-19"-1280x1024 wich will be replaced soon by a decent full-hd-24"-16:9-monster. Smile

Gonna sleep, it's 4am here - greets from Brazil. Cool

When the games comes out and the ATi performance was an annoying sh*t some idiots across the internerd suggested bizarre forms of gain performance, like rename the original .exe to grid.exe or fear.exe.
TBH, the "grid" one appear to boost performance for crossfire or x2 solutions, but nothing change for single cards. Laughing

Sounds great gentlemen, thanks for talking us in.

Since there is no new reloaded v1.2 patch I am looking for a way to get this working tonight. iNatan am I right that Virtual CD does the trick? I now use daemon tools. Do you think this will do the trick?

Thanks

@mauricetgol
Yes, I couldn't get the game to start with Daemon Tools Lite and the mini images on GCW, but with Virtual CD no other hiding tools are needed, just mount and run. Very Happy

This only improves the crossfire performance, right?

The dropping framerate issue was fixed by patch yesterday and EVERYBODY that i know, even with 4870x2 or 5870 was having problems yet with these rename tweaks.. Sad

@pacmanbr

Well, for regular cards you don't need to change, no. For Crossfire, you will get performance improvement until ATI adds a profile for Shift (probably in 9.12).

@Kamikaze666

No, I mounted the VCD mini-image found on GCW.

Thanks, that is great news! Just to make sure I can drive tonight:
1) I install a clean shift V1
2) patch to V1.2
3) Install virtual cd
4) Mount the dvd
5) Start my engine and hit the pedal to the metal!

Not the MDS/MDF. There is another RAR on GCW that has a vc4 folder, and in it some files. Extract that folder somewhere, go into VCD Image Manager and travel to that dir. You will see NFS Shift, double click on it and then run the game.

And the controls are just precise and smooth - no more crazy bugs - bouncing cars, wrong setups for cars tuning, etc.

It improved the gameplay a lot, I'm actually addicted, it is a goddamn-pretty-good-race-game.

Did you do a clean install of Shift prior to installing the update?

Damn the tier 4 "same-cars-it's-all-about-the-driver" races are hard. Laughing Especially the Carrera GT in that narrow narrow track... Sad
