AI is non-cheating type (unless you choose Hard which gives it +50% to economy and +50% to research speed).

On strategic map it expands at about 50%-60% speed compared to a pro player.
Known to out-expand noobs even on Easy (despite Easy giving player same +50% bonuses).
Smart enough to adapt to your designs and weapons you use but slower than a human at that.
Overall - It tries to compensate for a lack of wit with numbers of ships it builds.

In tactical battles it rushes to ships it sees or to a planet if it's attacking it.
Tries to be smart with switching targets if necessary.
Pretty predictable but again it tries to compensate with numbers.


With latest expansion you can alter starting conditions on per player basis which also allows to tweak AI strength.


Add: funny thing - you can force the surrender if you have much larger empire simply by sending AI info on all colonies you have.

Quite large patch came out yesterday. And of course, the exp is coming out tomorrow. Really looking forward to it, this is definately the best space-empire game I've played.

Probably a bit late but it hasn't been mentioned yet.

Skidrow seems to have released the new expansion for this game. Smile

You can get the game with the first two expansions, meaning all but argos shipyard on impulse for 8$. It's a very good deal.

Edit: Steam now has all 4 games for 16$.

I might have to jump on that, I bought SotS from GamersGate but kinda lost interest before the first expansion was released. But that is a really good price to pickup everything.
