That's crap, and you know it. Even 5:4 is probably more popular now.
And don't recite some silly Steam survey They are filled with CS[:S] kiddies, using CRTs set to 640x480 to have 120Hz refreshes. I'm talking real-life.

steam survey time!
1280x1024 is on first place with 20% usage (and dropping) but 1680x1050 is on second place with 18% (and increasing).
widescreen is becoming standard right now. no reason to buy anything less than a 22" 1680x1050 lcd display anymore. 4:3 resolution is unacceptable!

Like that's a viable market. Do they even purchase games there?
If they want to succeed, they need to cater to US and central and western Europe. If they weren't interested in that market, they wouldn't have tried to imitate medieval English accent so bad (and FAiL worse).

dont take me wrong but you are zombie. ppl tell you what is good and what is bad and you are doing what they tell you. Soon 21:9 will be a standard and you'll tell everybody that 16:9 is unacceptable. why? because they've told you to say that. Most of users of "new standards" are totally blind but they are spreading "words" that world should go this or that way.
over 20 years ppl used 4:3 tv's without doubts but someone has told them that they were wrong. that world should be seen in 16:9

@ShadowB
It is Eastern European, but they are clearly trying to cater to a broad as possible audience, and that means outside of the East European bubble.
@Gormadok
As wider as possible, the better. Perhaps it's hard for some to understand or see ( ), but eyes don't work in wide mode, not square. But yeah, you East Europeans (Russian probably, they are the worst), you have to fight any change or technological advancement. Had a Russian friend who used to type all day long into a stupid CLI linux on his laptop. Why you ask? Because GUI is "so unnecessary and forced, coined by Microsoft to make more money" (seriously, his words ).

lol
you make it sound like technological advancement is a conspiracy and we should all stick to what we have instead of upgrading. did you perhaps try to convince people to stick to video cassettes too when dvds came out?

Well, widescreen really isn't more advanced. It's just a different aspect ratio, and not necessarily better. One that's trying to dethrone the current standard using marketing to tell you it's da shit when it's not.
It needlessly sacrifices height in exchange for width. Hypothetically, why have 1680x1050 monitor instead of a 1680x1260 one? If anything, it's a regression.

There is a reason why it's moving into the widescreen direction. Check your eyes, people.
@ShadowB
Actually, widescreen works by extending the frame to the sides, not limiting it on the top and bottom. (This is a neverending debate, I know. )

So you Sir have other ultimate truths about more nations, while you're at it, if you care to share?
So, in Europe, they don't know widescreen, and why not add that they have no electricity and the like?

Then for sure all Russians are like that. Good point.

At least my eyes can tilt up and down besides panning sideways, so why, oh, why sacrifice height?

@Lemmings
No no no, didn't say that (and I'm originally from an East European country as well), it's just a general observation. From personal experience, I've seen hell of a lot more East Europeans do this. My personal experience.

I'm originally from Bulgaria as well, so don't burn me. Like I said, it's from my experience. The silly stuff I added in an edit is just that, silly.

Well as far as I know Hungarians developed this game and we are in Central Europe.
About the game: Could someone post screens from the game's menu/strategy part. I can only find screens about the battles, but I've played total war a lot so there's nothing to see there really. I'd like to see, how the strategy/economy/rpg part looks like.
Thanks!

I suggest you visit their website and check up on the dev diary videos. They seem to cover quite a log of the gameplay in that.

Really fun and addictive game, reminds me of Total War. Been playing it for a few hours now. I recommend it to everyone who likes Total War style territorial games.

That widescreen discussion reminds me of myself when I was 14 yo, I was sooo pissed that the dvds I was renting didn't fit nicely in my monitor and I had black bars. I thought it was a conspiracy ! lol
That was a decade ago, though.

I'm enjoying this so far, although I've gotten two crashes blaming the Launcher application. Otherwise it's running well.
It's a bit better than I expected, to be honest. Still not sure if I'm buying this one or Armada 2526.

Anyone else find not being able to tilt the camera and move it at the same time annoying? Why did they feel the need to "innovate" the camera? The TW camera model works great, keep that and do your thing with the rest of the game.

This game is reaally good ! And looks and runs great.
But the damn crashes randomly are a big turnoff, because I lose my progress/the battle I've just won, when it crashes while loading back to the campaign.
I need some workaround or patch ... there is no official forum I think, so I'm checking the steam forum. Does anyone with ATI have crashes btw ? I have gtx260.
