Is installing the steam-version without the patch an option?

Just a note, i've played the game a long time on my second playthrough (and last 14 hours of my first) on a patched game WITH installed DLCs, and everything works fine, not a single problem here (around 45h of gametime total i suppose). So there's no rule about them breaking.

Did you install the DLC before or after you patched the game?

It was a little bit complicated, because at first, i installed the addons and they didn't work, because i've had some junk left from the previous releases in the game's folder. So i deleted everything there, along with the config file, installed the patch and then installed the DLCs again.
I think it was in that order at least, not 100% sure.

Hm, no, try this:
- open the .das savefile with the toolset (Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Characters/<charname>/Saves/
- Navigate to SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR -> SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR and find the lines SAVEGAME_PLAYER_SOUNDSET and SAVEGAME_DEFAULT_SOUNDSET
- Edit their values, both have to be the same. Format is something like ss_pc_melf_suave, so you should only need to change the last part from violent to cocky. Then save and boot up.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

RainyDay, what program did you use to listen to the voices? I would like to check them out and see if the Cocky voice will work for my next playthrough.

ok.... I GOT IT! its downloaded, installed, and ive been playing it for a little over an hour, and yeah... so far im enjoying it.
complaint i have is that, at least at the moment, everything feels pretty unnatural... right clicking to move and attack? really? thats just seriously wrong, feels bad. also movement doesnt feel that great - clicking to move. im going to try keyboard movement and see if that feels better - im betting it will.
oh, and default is wsqe for movement? the developers have never played any pc games before, have they
but control 'niggles' aside, the story definately has grabbed me from the start... ok well not the story, because there isnt really much of one yet, but its definately hooked me in. hope it keeps it up.
and the dog rocks it doesnt feel like a witcher beater, at least not yet, and i dont think it will be, but yeah, i think its going to be a fun game.

point was that the controls default to wsqe, where as any 'other' pc game always defaults to wsad. already changed em, so theres no problem... just saying, its weird to default them to such a weird choice.
i made the comparison to witcher because id recently finished another playthrough of it, and a few pages back or whatever, i asked how this game was in comparison, because i was looking for an epic game with great atmosphere, characters and story... thats where the comparison comes from. id played a few really meh games since witcher that just didnt hold my attention, so was hoping this one would.
and i just find left clicking to do an action (move, attack) far more natural than right clicking is all... ill get used to it i guess, just feels weird.

It'd feel more natural if you've played an MMO before, like WoW. DA pretty much has WoW's controls for moving around and right clicking and what-not.

WSQE is default for movement? What kind of version did you get?

It's indeed WSQE by default, given those keys move your character forward, backwards, left and right, respectively. A and D just rotates the camera left and right.
Didn't bother me too much.

yeah ok, ive not played wow before. played some f2p mmos and a couple of rpgs, and they all have left click to initiate control schemes, so thats why its feeling weird. im kinda getting used to it now.
and one other thing... i coulda SWORN at the start of the game, i got to pick a 'voice type' for my character... yet he never speaks? my game busted or what...

He comments in battle and such, but not during dialogues.

Finished DA:O (66+ hours) few days ago and must say that this game is truly amazing. Game of the year for me without doubt.
