Is installing the steam-version without the patch an option?

Just a note, i've played the game a long time on my second playthrough (and last 14 hours of my first) on a patched game WITH installed DLCs, and everything works fine, not a single problem here (around 45h of gametime total i suppose). So there's no rule about them breaking.

Did you install the DLC before or after you patched the game?

It was a little bit complicated, because at first, i installed the addons and they didn't work, because i've had some junk left from the previous releases in the game's folder. So i deleted everything there, along with the config file, installed the patch and then installed the DLCs again.

I think it was in that order at least, not 100% sure.

Meh, i really want to start again with my precreated mage char (which interestingly turned out to look pretty similar to Leliana Razz )

The only thing stopping me is a bug or whaterver - The human female has no option to use cocky voice. It's in there in the pacakge/audio/en-us/vo. I can play the .fsb file.. but it's not avaible at creation. It burns me inside, i want that voice, not the one "should i get you a ladder so you can get off my back Crying or Very sad

Where's your wits? Rename, say, the Sultry voice pack to "blah" and rename the cocky one to Sultry. Then pick Sultry in-game. Piece of cake. Razz

Did you try opening the save file with the toolset? You can assign pretty much whatever soundset you want to to any character from there.

Hm, well i created the char, then tried to edit it. I've changed both the .xml file (which is kinda irrelevant anyway ), and the savegame - SAVEGAME_OBJECT_NAME - TLKSTRING to 215786:Cocky (from violent - the other human voices that i've opened have the same digits aswell ) -aaand.. fail.. Laughing

Oh well, thanks for the tips guys.

: EDIT : Awww, i totally missed those lines... changed it and it works flawlessly. Thank you so very much Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz

Hm, no, try this:

- open the .das savefile with the toolset (Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Characters/<charname>/Saves/

- Navigate to SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR -> SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR and find the lines SAVEGAME_PLAYER_SOUNDSET and SAVEGAME_DEFAULT_SOUNDSET

- Edit their values, both have to be the same. Format is something like ss_pc_melf_suave, so you should only need to change the last part from violent to cocky. Then save and boot up.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

RainyDay, what program did you use to listen to the voices? I would like to check them out and see if the Cocky voice will work for my next playthrough.

Playing the sound set is fun aside the fact that half of the lines including various screams and groaning in the spirit of the best pron movies Laughing

ok.... I GOT IT! its downloaded, installed, and ive been playing it for a little over an hour, and yeah... so far im enjoying it.

complaint i have is that, at least at the moment, everything feels pretty unnatural... right clicking to move and attack? really? thats just seriously wrong, feels bad. also movement doesnt feel that great - clicking to move. im going to try keyboard movement and see if that feels better - im betting it will.

oh, and default is wsqe for movement? the developers have never played any pc games before, have they Very Happy

but control 'niggles' aside, the story definately has grabbed me from the start... ok well not the story, because there isnt really much of one yet, but its definately hooked me in. hope it keeps it up.

and the dog rocks Very Happy it doesnt feel like a witcher beater, at least not yet, and i dont think it will be, but yeah, i think its going to be a fun game.

Just rightclick you douche, this game is epic Laughing

And it's so much different from the witcher that no comparison should be made.

what do you find wrong with the controls ? I found them very natural .. you can move with wsad, right click, or holding left+right mouse... all of this is perfect for me. What other movement controls are in "any pc game before" o.O

edit: well, holding the right button actually enables the wasd movement. Smile

point was that the controls default to wsqe, where as any 'other' pc game always defaults to wsad. already changed em, so theres no problem... just saying, its weird to default them to such a weird choice.

i made the comparison to witcher because id recently finished another playthrough of it, and a few pages back or whatever, i asked how this game was in comparison, because i was looking for an epic game with great atmosphere, characters and story... thats where the comparison comes from. id played a few really meh games since witcher that just didnt hold my attention, so was hoping this one would.

and i just find left clicking to do an action (move, attack) far more natural than right clicking is all... ill get used to it i guess, just feels weird.

It'd feel more natural if you've played an MMO before, like WoW. DA pretty much has WoW's controls for moving around and right clicking and what-not.

It's indeed WSQE by default, given those keys move your character forward, backwards, left and right, respectively. A and D just rotates the camera left and right.

Didn't bother me too much.

yeah ok, ive not played wow before. played some f2p mmos and a couple of rpgs, and they all have left click to initiate control schemes, so thats why its feeling weird. im kinda getting used to it now.

and one other thing... i coulda SWORN at the start of the game, i got to pick a 'voice type' for my character... yet he never speaks? my game busted or what...
