I recently moved and used some service to have my mail rerouted for 1 month.
This is done via the internetz and I made sure to check the option that my address and other personal info was not being shared with 3rd parties.
Tonight I received my 6th call, if I was interested in some dipshit credit card.
Fucking cunts, I so fucking HATE this i could DESTROY my fucking phone.
Fucking cunts, I so fucking HATE this i could DESTROY my fucking phone.
Yeah, but do it AFTER they call you - that way you can agree to getting a "new phone, sir!!" and THEN smash your old one. You'd kill two birds with one stone then
I wish i could come up with something like that when I receive such a call.
@Yondaime: There is such a service here although I doubt it will work. Anyway the woman who called me was friendly enough to tell me that it happens more often that consumers get on that telemarketing list without their approval. She told to stay on the phone and i would get a menu to further block these kind of calls.
So I wait a couple of seconds and then some pre-recorded highly irritating voice begins to speak. As if i wasn't aggravated enough this got me blood boiling. A short paraphrase:
Through this menu you will be able to block telemarketing calls. It is possible to choose to block specific calls, to block commercial calls or to block all calls. sure get on with it
It is important to finish this menu, if you don't finish it it will not be registered. You can however break the connection at any time. There is more info on the website www.bel-me-niet.nl (don't call me) This registration will take approximately 3 minutes. oh ffs
If you want to block specific calls press 1.
If you want to block commercial calls press 2.
If you want to block all calls press 3.

.
So after 3 minutes of torture I thought i reached the end, having filled in my telephone number, my address number and my postal code another question:
You have selected to block all calls. However it is still possible to block all calls excluding good causes.
If want to block all calls excluding good causes press 1.
Here I went berserk and pressed 1 and then I was thinking, did I just...?
Yes I fucked up. Fuck them!
I dunno where your from, but if your in Canada or the US, just sign up to the DNCL (Do Not Call List) and after the 15 or 30 day period....the only TM calls you get are scams (which I report, we have a national agency in Canada that you can report shit like that to....I report every scam call I get).
If your not North American, see if your country has something similar
We have a Do Not Call list here in Australia, 1 call and they get fined hash enough to deter any evil company.
GeordieRacer if i see you crossing the road i will reverse over you repeatedly after running you down. Dont hold it against me, its just my job, the money aint great, but the rewards are worth killing for! We all choose out job, telemarketers chose to work for the devil (metaphorically anyway, im atheist after all), no mercy! Dunno why IT recruit would be cold calling anyway?
I used to work for a telemarketing company, though I was collecting donations for the rescue helicopter.
I actually liked the job Might be that I didn't get the worst answers due to the supposedly good cause. But I had few funny ones, such as a guy answering and claiming that the owner of the phone is in jail, call again in 5 years. And a guy who suddenly didn't understand Finnish anymore and started talking Swedish, luckily for him my Swedish is awful so I had to give up
I actually hate the people who call and ask you to take a part in some query more than the magazine telemarketers.

oops missed this
yes we have a website over here (Netherlands) that allows to create such a profile
it just doesn't look that trustworthy also stating that it can take up to 6 weeks before companies have their data updated

Yes but you're missing out of all the "pardon me"''s and "Oh I'm so sorry"'s from telemarketers when you inform them that they are in violation of whatever agreement they've signed. It's a sweet sweet sound.
he Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a central opt out register whereby individuals can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS.
