Tried it, uninstalled after 5 minutes. Honestly, while it's a much better port, Force Unleashed was a much better game. Not only there's nothing special in the gameplay, it's also WELL above average on the stupidity meter. I don't expect too much from an action game story, but c'mon, modern day ninjas fighting wide spread virus infection turning people into monsters. In Tokio. And with katanas? As much anime fan as i am, this feels like it was written by an 8 years old, for other kids his age. Only thing needed to make it more stupid would be a Ninja Master teaching a Ninja Aprentice and presenting him with an old, powerfull sword , with an aura of mystery... Wait...

The game froze on me right when I skipped the second levels intro cut-scene. Had to end it through task manager. Turning the AA to 8X really took a massive toll on my rig. Rest everything seems fine.

Is it just me or is anyone else facing freezing issues after completing missions?

Now I know why I hate Star "the fuckin'" force protection with a passion. I completed mission 2 and tried to quite the game and it froze. Had to perform a hard reboot for it. If this is the case, then fuck it, I'm better off with the 360 version.

Gamersgate version does use Star-Force but the Steam version (Skidrow release as well.) only uses Steam so it's not protection related.

So what could be the issue? I never had any lock-ups with any recent game for a bloody long time now. This is the only game with which I got 2 freezes in a day. Not like my GPU is heating up either. It's after 40 minutes of playing this game that it abruptly locks up. Now I'm even afraid to launch this dam thing.

Could crack be the issue?

I would say that it's game related, unfortunately. Smile

As mentioned by me and Proekaan (And others now that it's "released") overall the game is OK but it also has a few issues and bugs such as mis-translated settings or spelling errors, irregular framerate behavior and even stability issues, doesn't happen on all hardware configurations from what little I've found by searching around but it's not exactly the best port job done, heh.

(Mistranslated being the Sihft/Shift in the screen above, Low medium and high settings being low medium and average instead, missing menus for the extra costumes and the untranslated message at the start to not turn of the console, I haven't had any bugs with the actual game as such, bit of a large performance hit with AA enabled though, but I've read that it can be a bit unstable and perform a bit irregulr or how to describe it.)

If you do suspect it is the crack feel free to try the loader I posted on the previous page or so but it most likely won't affect how the game runs.

Perhaps try running it in windowed mode as well, RAM will be handled a bit differently amongst other things (Vista/Windows 7 memory and GPU management related.) although that is not saying your problem is RAM or GPU related, if it were so you should see the issue in other titles as well, game isn't exactly the most demanding and stressful for the various computer components.
(RAM, CPU and GPU mainly, this game appears mainly GPU bound though, perhaps shifts more towards CPU during larger battles.)

They need to port Demon Souls really. I'd buy that game.

The SKIDROW release is the GamersGate version: I compared the CRCs and they are the same.

Really? I thought it was the Steam version, interesting.
(They're pretty much identical though aside from Gamersgate using Star-Force and thus having the extra protect.* files whereas the Steam version uses it's own system and lacks those files thus my reason for Skidrow using that version being that it would be much easier to crack.)

EDIT: Unless they took the Gamersgate installer and then cracked the Steam EXE, that will work as well and it's better than those custom installers they have used before.

EDIT: You might be right then, cool if other groups can crack Star-Force as it can be a bothersome protection (Kinda like Tages.) though on the other hand it's not really used much at all outside of Russia (As it's a Russian made protection or something like that.).

Also the nfo says "Protection: StarForce" and the crack involves a lot of files like in many SF cracked games.

It seems that they chose the hardest path to crack this game. Smile

At least it's not as bad as "Bet on Soldier" was back when it came out; where the Starforce protection infected almost every file, making the "crack" almost the same size as the game itself Laughing

to help you decide, I have found this conversion far one of the best from the other conversions from consoles to PC. Actually graphics is nice, smooth and highres. There is a no major frustration from camera view as it works pretty well even you can adjust it. Game itself is interesting, i never played any in the series, but I say the effects are nice, combos are nice, typical hack'n'slash. i had no blue screen since i started to play, no lock up, loading damn fast with my 4GB DDR2.

only possible issue is that i tried to use my rumblepad from logitech (aka PS2 controller) and its quite hard to see on screen 'Press X fast' and you have no idea which one it is :) so before you get used to it, you are death few times. however, game supports several gamepad configs, as well as keys and mouse.

I would be wondering if someone will find this port as crappy as it's really not (RE4 is!:)

i played this for 10 mins. when i saw 'saving content please don't turn off your console,' i knew this was a shitty port.

the graphic is dated for 2009 pc game. this game is a ninja gaiden ripoff. i hate the timed button/dance game/guitar game mechanic. i had to redo the jumping off the plane sequence 5 times because of the stupid timed button crap.

this game stinks. oh, well back to dao. Very Happy

I've never shit deleted a game so fast. Even Aliens:CM is better than this.

It was interesting but also soooo disappointing to see one of From's earlier titles.

Also bump Devil Troll

I completed it some time ago, but it wasn't easy with a mouse and keyboard input, lots of QTE's and the controls are a bit problematic but I managed once I got past the initial levels and started handling the input better. Very Happy

Don't remember much about the actual game though, probably there's some older posts in this topic about it, heh.

Interesting to see this type of game on the PC in the first place, usually they are kept console exclusive.
