GOTY material:
Dragon Age (finally another RPG that 'feels' just right!)
Modern Warfare 2 (short, intense masterpiece)
Borderlands (best of both worlds)
no surprises there, i guess :o
biggest disappointments (don't crucify me):
Resident Evil 5 (felt generic)
Batman Arkham Asylum (dunno why, i really tried to like it :()
Dawn of War 2 (see above)
..it really tied the room together

4. Machinarium (They don't make games like this anymore, imo probably one of the best looking games released this year, and it isn't even a blockbuster title!)

First two are almost top class, the rest would be average on a good year. Haven't played Batman, COD and Anno 1404. And I reserve a place for King's Bounty: Armored Princess.

risen is the only game that kept me playing till the end , so yeah
i'm just at the beginning of dragon age tho
also rooting for the belgium team with divinity 2 lol so that's mah top 3
machinarium is worth mentioning too

My top game of the year in no particular order...
Best Action: Batman: Arkham Asylum, Prototype, X-Men Wolverine
Best FPS: Borderlands, Modern Warfare 2, L4D 2
Best RTS: Warhammer: Dawn of War II
Best Sports: NBA 2K10
Best Arcade: Street Fighter 4
Best RPG: Dragon Age: Origins
Seems there were a few others I liked, such as the single player Wolfenstein, Resident Evil 5, Call of Jaurez: Bound in Blood and probably more. I thought it was a pretty decent year for gaming overall.
Bah, tough, but I'll try to do my top 5:
1) Modern Warfare 2
2) Borderlands
2) W40K: DoW 2
4) Batman: AA
5) NBA 2K10
Honorable mention: L4D 2
I'm sure Dragon Age: Origins will likely win, but I haven't had time to really play it yet  Also, fuck IW, even though I put MW2 there because it's addicting and fun, dedicated servers and it would have been the shit. Borderlands was sooo close to being the best. The chest farming though, instead of bosses, brought it down a notch. Batman:AA was amazing, but just doesn't offer a lot of replay value for me. DoW2 is the shit. Relic owns.
