After completing the main quest you'll have a save that only lets you play DLC content or mods. |

Finally had the chance of playing for more then 1 hour straight yesterday.
I finished the mage tower, went to redcliff to do everything there. I now just went to Haven (I loved the atmosphere there) and got the ashes. BUT I tried fighting the dragonb but he wipes out my party and she till has 90% health....
I use a dual weapon wielder (hero) alistair as a tank, Wynn and Morigan. What is a good tactic? I heard cone of cold with morigan is good, but I was building her sleep skill. So she only has winter crasp now. Should I wait for 2 levels till she has that skill?
I love this game, Wynn is a force to be reakonned with. She has the petrify skill and a stone fist. Those 2 combined can kill an enemy from afar in just those 2 spell... Ideal for those mages with large melee groups.

First , use Spoiler tags for Spoilers
second :
Spoiler: | The (High) Dragon is optional. You can get the ashes either way. So if you can't kill him when you are there for the Ashes, come back some level ups later and it shouldn't be a problem anymore (Dragon will stay the same level he was you first entered area, while you'll be higher) |

@sabin: you had problems with your game + DLC, because you installed them on 1.01 patch? correct me if I'm wrong.

Sadly, neither are in my vocabulary |
Spoiler: | Think of it as a plan to let the queen escape. You'll need her help later. At least save and try it. The escape quest is hillarious and has so many variations. |

I had a superman reference when I was walking around on the world map (when he crashed on earth when he was a kid). Really cool! Anyone else got it?

Spoiler: | its not actually a girl elf its a boy elf talking to the ash warriors,if your coercion skill is high enough you can actually persuade him to give you the sword the quatermaster talks about. |
|
Spoiler: | Actually, the QM was talking about a suit of chains, not the sword the elf carries around. It seems that little part was only thrown in to give a bit of flavour for elf characters if they happen to talk to the guy, since not even the StratGuide mentions it. |

From what I understand there's a bug that causes instability/bugs with DLC if you install them after patching DA to version 1.01.

Yeah I know, but I'm saving it for the next playthrough... Something to look forward to!
About the queen:
Spoiler: | Why does she lie when you tell to ser Cauthrien that she was being held prisoner? I noticed that when I tried the encounter for the first time, but the second time (when I won the fight) I just attacked right away and so that part never came up. |

Spoiler: | Most likely because she knows that if you lose the fight, she will look like she was kidnaped and is as innocent as a newborn. If her father would know that she was actively collaborating against him with the wardens...baaaad news for her. |

|
 |
I tried sifting through this thread trying to find a fix for having ~100% load on both cores while running this program or if I set the affinity to 1 core it maxes out just the one. Running win 7 x64, nvidia 8800gt. Running one core I can run the game for a few hours then it starts to crash to desktop and after opening back up it crashes every 10 mins or so. Physx shows that cpu being used over gpu, not sure if that is normal for this game or not.
This game is very nice, but not worth sacrificing my cpu for. Anyone know of a fix?

huh? what exactly is the problem when a game is utilizing both cores on a dual core machine?
I mean would you rather have the game to be programmed to only use one core and sacrifice alot of performnce by doing that? And I don't understand what you mean by: physx showing cpu is used over gpu. I don't think the game even uses physx.

I'm confused .. The game uses all 4 of my cores over 50% all the time. Its supposed to do that, using more cores improves performance and stuff.. By limiting a game to 1 core your making it run slower on your pc.

Its not a problem using both cores, it's that it uses 100% of the cpu. I can put the settings from max 1680x1050 to nothing 800x400 uses 100%. I haven't seen a game on my system run at more than 60% on high settings. If it used 50% I wouldn't have an issue, its just that it constantly uses 100% on any settings.
Below is a dragon age forum thread with same issues, but nobody seems to have an actual fix.

The point is......... WHY do you even care? Unused cycles are wasted cycles, what the hell does it matter if the game is using 100% or 10%, as long as it's running properly?

He referenced crashes when running on one core.
dude, just let it run. I've got a crappy processor and it regularly runs at 100% when playing games. It's not going to hurt it.

I guess I"ll try to be as clear as possible, it crashes with both cores or one. Why would a game continue to use maximum resources whether on max settings or minimum settings? My processor is a e8400 and does handle the game fine until it just randomly crashes.

I'm on a quadcore now but when I had a dual core, every game using the unreal engine used both cores 100% so that is nothing unusual. And reducing resolution or most graphic settings only reduces gpu load not cpu load.

don't mind the 100%.
Aslong as the temps of your cpu aren't above their respective thresholds, it won't do anything to your cpu at all.

i've to say tho, i did have a couple crashes tho. In my first playthrough, i actually had a couple HARD crashes. Which weren't necessarily forced by bugs in code , but by the games extreme demand for cpu time (yes, the all cores 100% is considered a bug of sorts). Anyway , the reason that triggered those hard crashes on my pc was, that my CPU is OC'ed (a E6320, stock 1,86ghz running at 2.8ghz) and i'd set the vcore a notch too low (like 0.125V too low hehe). Once i changed that in bios, no more hard crashes.
Now i am in my second playthrough and it already CTD 3 times during the battle of Ostagar and last time right after (flemeths hut) for no apparent reason.
And thats with patch 1.01a and original EXE + DVD in drive !
Its not as huge an issue for me , since i learned to quicksave a LOT because of my earlier issues, so at most i lose like 1-3 minutes of gametime haha.
Anyway, it seems there is/are some issues left somewhere in the code that hopefully get adressed soon with a patch

Not a single crash here on my 82 hours playthrough. The only problem was that loading times increased the longer I played, so I had to restart the game every couple hours, which doesn't even take a minute to do. So not a big deal.
