Metal Gear Solid 4- If you're a Metal Gear fanboy you'll love it, otherwise stay clear. As a standalone game I think it's probably one of the weakest entries (ignoring the improvements to controls and so on), but for existing fans it serves brilliantly as closure. The fan service and nostalgia it evokes, particularly towards the end, is fantastic.Uncharted: Drakes Fortune - Perfectly pitched adventure game which distils the excitement and bravado of Indiana Jones into a videogame format. A triumph of storytelling and pacing which if anything is highly underrated. Engrossing from start to finish. As is its sequel Uncharted 2 which is essentially more of the same in an improved and visually spectacular engine.LittleBigPlanet - An extremely charming, cute and innovative platformer which is as smile inducing as it is challenging and fun to play. Take it online and it opens up a world of crazy contraptions and amazing feats of user creativity - but also know that you don't have to, as the levels that come with the game are more than enough to satisfy.Gran Turismo 5: Prologue - The standard bearer for console sim racers. Time consuming, and totally fap-worthy car /porn/ replays. However, not much fun unless you're into racecraft.MLB 09: The Show - The single best sports game you will play on any system. I didn't like or understand Baseball one bit before I played, but this game is just something else. It's like you're in, and/or watching a real game. It's genuinely brilliant.Valkyria Chronicles - Stylistic graphics, a touching story, sweet characters and strategic gameplay. A huge favourite of mine but it is cut-scene heavy.Killzone 2 - Woefully generic, but graphically amazing shooter. This is also a great time to play it as there's no hype to get in the way of your enjoyment. They've also patched the controls into being more responsive so win, win.Formula One Championship Edition - F1 fans will get a lot of mileage out of this. It has the requisite sim-like driving model, depth and a realistic and uncompromising career mode. The graphics are very good as well. Underrated.Motorstorm 1 & 2 - Fairly generic arcade racing, but it's not bad. Supports splitscreen if I'm not mistaken.Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction - It's no Mario 64, but a solid 3D platformer all the same. Can't say I'm a huge fan, because I'm not.Socom: Confrontation- Counter-Strike for the console basically.Singstar - It is what it is, and people love it for it. Even if you don't!Buzz! - A really entertaining game for friends and family to gather round. Very slick.Heavenly Sword - I didn't like it in fact I hated everything about it aside from the cut scene graphics.Infamous- Not played it but it is rated above average.Disgaea 3 - Love it. Huge timesink and a wonderful sense of humour. Looks shit, but it's far from it. If you're new to the series it's a great way to get into it.White Knight Chronicles - Not played it yet, waiting for a EU/US release, but rated as a good jRPG elsewhere.Demon Souls - ...or 'the best game ever' as TwoBells might say. Waiting for EU/US release.Siren: Blood Curse- Survival horror. Only played the demo, was fairly impressed but not enough to part with money. Worth a rent I'd say.Resistance 1 & 2 - I didn't like either of these but there is an audience out there who do. Crazy though they may be.Folklore - Another game I haven't played but is considered to be a good jRPG.Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm - Gorgeous graphics and flowing animation (especially in the battles that look like anime), but wasn't a very compelling game to actually play.Flower - Beautiful, truly artistic game. Don't miss it.Flow - nice 1080p graphics and ambience but ultimately not much of a game.PixelJunk Eden - Pumping soundtrack, eye popping sharp graphics, and addictive gameplay spread across a surprisingly varied selection of levels. I really like this.PixelJunk Monsters - An extremely good tower defence game which supports two players.Echochrome - truly mind-bending puzzles and a unique art design.Noby, Noby Boy - Zany sandbox style game from the Katamari creator, not really a game actually but a play-thing with a great sense of humour.WarHawk - Extremely solid if unremarkable multiplayer ground and air combat game.SuperStarDust HD - Retro game with nice updated graphics and sound. Lots of fun, highly recommend.Fat Princess - I've only played the demo but it looks and sounds great. I had serious connection problems though so try the demo first.WipEout HD - A trip down memory lane, it's WipEout, only better looking. Surprisingly addictive singleplayer campaign and good multiplayer experience.Ratchet & Clank: A Quest for Booty - Not bad, but not great. Cheap title for those who want a humourous 3D combat, platforming adventure game. The next title in the series is also out but I've not got around to it yet.
Anyone knows if there is a nice bundle planed for xmas? If there isnt think ill grab one next week allready ^^ Gonna add some cheap games and wait for demon souls
skip killzone 2 - the controllers are shit and it's generally generic, overhyped and boring!
I couldnt have said it any better, after 3 days i sold it already.
I thought that they had fixed the issues with the controller, I remember playing a few weeks back and had a lot of fun.
They did improve the controls, and the game is fun. It has some decent AI (both in the form of a reactive and roaming singleplayer enemy and the bots for use in offline multiplayer matches) and the combat is satisfyingly punchy. It's nothing overly special I admit, but outside of the hype, expectation and fanboy war of words - it's a good, solid FPS. If you're looking for a truly killer exclusive, or a redefining of the FPS genre then perhaps Killzone 2 isn't it - but as a game in its own right it's entertaining enough.
You can do much, much worse than Killzone 2. Haze for example.
It's quite possible the most generic shooter I've played, ever. I know its only my opinion, but it really really lacks any form of freedom and originality.
I've played some demos and the best i found are Uncharted 1 and probably 2 is even better, Infamous - but graphics were blurred and jaggy. Little big planet was a lot of fun and the user generated levels sound awesome. Also it has pretty good graphics. Motorstorm - noticably good graphics and the tracks look fun.Probably god of war collection will be a nice adition to that and the upcoming God of war 3 altough i doubt it will be better than god of war 2. Many games i tried don't use the full potential and graphics so i don't recomment for example The darckness.
killzone 2 is great, jaw droppingly great graphics and solid gameplay. crank the difficulty up and ignore the haters.
Agreed.
+1
It's only £15 platinum and it is a good game. Controls aren't the best, I agree, but the campaign is entertaining enough and the multiplayer can be a lot of fun.
