Strange, perhaps we mean different things?

What I was thinking about was a thin black pixelated line roughly where the level of detail quality (Or LOD for short.) is reduced, this little black shadow line is removed by not forcing AF directly from the GPU control panel software.

Game does use a rather heavy LOD system (Gamebryo engine by the way so it's pretty effective at streaming data but it's done quite aggressively and might also introduce stuttering in heavier scenes.)

i had that same line following me surrounding my character as some sort of cirkel, disabling shadows was indeed only solution on my ati 4870 cat 9.8 i think, at least it only was solved after the patch and when i disabled some stuff.

Maybe cat 9.11 might fix some stuff for us

Anyone else getting a crash to desktop when talking to Gawain near the beginning? He's the guy practicing against the target dummy who lets you choose the fighter path.

Every time I click on him, I crash back to the desktop. Can't progress until I finish this quest sequence.

Thanks.

okey this might be a really dumb question, but during the valley part I have a side quest to break out some prisoner, so I go to the burnt chapel and go down the hatch. First door is locked however and can't get past it. Any suggestions?

Ok, anyone got the Richard NPC bugged or disappeared from the 1st village? I did the food quest and he's gone from the town leaving me with goblin hearts and quest I can't turn in Sad
BTW, what's the lever for near the Mouse NPC from the same food quest Richard gives? I used, got flashy animation and nothing happened Smile

God fucking damn it Sad I can't believe that horrible shadow line is STILL there! It wasn't in the original 1.0 German version, but it appeared in the 1.2 "graphics update" patch .. and now it's transferred over to the English one Sad Gah. I'll just wait till it's patched out or something, because I can't play with that line there any more than someone can walk with a pebble in their shoe - and I refuse to resort to disabling shadows.

=Edit=

Ooops... ignore me >_< I just saw Sir JB's post about AF and, indeed!, that was the cause. Disabling forced-AF in the CC fixed the black line issue.

The game feels just as good as it did back when I played the German version, and thankfully the English voices are rather good in this. I kinda feel spoiled after Dragon Age though Laughing

I'm gonna have to try this again once I get done with Dragon Age, when I tried the german one the performance on my PC was really not that great but since then I added some more RAM and I heard about that optimization patch. I Just hope it doesn't disappoint too much after DA. Razz

i just completed this game. it took several days of off and on gaming. the graphics are similar to oblivion but nothing really stands out to me. the dragon feels like it's tacked on. when you're in dragon form, it's like the dragon is stuck on a stick and you waving the stick around to control it. it seems strange.

the ending isn't very good. unless i'm mistaken, it doesn't really matter what you do there's only one ending. which makes all the time spent completing side quests and etc a bit of a let down.

i'll probably play it again since my 1st playthrough was just to rush through it. anyway, not bad. but this game could have been better.

Menu lags a bit here but animations are fluid with no stuttering at all.Try the graphics options mentioned before in this topic.

I have the same problem, with english(reloaded) version, in 1440 all options to max with this update settings on animations especially npc looks strange, like some kind of frame skipping, stuttering. What else can we try,is there any patch to eng version or they are already implemented in it ?

Do you have the "time splice" (or what they're called) settings enabled, meant to help with stuttering animations.

I have stuttering as well, both animations and when running around. Its not bad framerate really, it just stutters every couple of seconds. And it doesn't change at all even if I put every graphical setting to the lowest. E8800, HD4850, 3gb memory. Hope they come up with a fix.

seems like no matter what settings i check or uncheck, or the game feels like its running poorly. the camera motion seems a bit jittery which makes it all feel bad. hope the next patch fixes this, i consider this game buy-worthy

mike i feel the same, you see constant 58-60 fps but gameplay doesnt look smooth at all. Funny think when i turn animation update on i see more animations sttuter than when this option is turned down. Also when i turn shadows update off i get -10 fps...

i have this from their forum, it seems to be a problem with the engine , theyr working on a new patch wich i hope resolves the problem

thing is if your fps is to high the engine doest catch up or somet and u get these stutters, they are not frame drops...
fps is steady, still it has this stutter...

a work around is download fraps and put all settings on high until u reach +/- 30 fps and the stutter magicaly disappears

but ur stuck playign the game with 30 fps wich is better than the stutter i guess

After I finished and uninstalled Dragon Age, I installed this. I get the fucking microstuttering and the animations and ragdolls are annoying !

I'm at the village "asking about the dragon" and I'm getting bored. Will it get better or do I have to headbutt those that recommended this game ? (yes, through the internet)

First are is pretty slow but it's quite big as well so going trough all of it will take some time.
(I basically divide it in two halves pre and post tower with that first area counting for nearly half of that.)

EDIT: As to give a better overview.

Tutorial area - Broken Valley (And all there is there.) - Small Island - Tower - Fjords (And all there is in that location.) - Some story related smaller locations - Endgame.

I didn't think I could get into this game either after completing Dragon Age but the more I play it the more I'm getting into it. I pretty much hated it at the start and almost quit all together but once you get good weapons and stats and further into the storyline it does get a lot more enjoyable. I'll probably stick with it now.

This feels so amateurish and the battle is uber-wonky !!!

Also, it runs glitchy. Uninstalled.

its a veray fun game. Starts slow but then it suddenly picks up in pace and you cant stop playing. Story is nice and quite deep (for something you could call a Action RPG/Hack n Slach almost). I surely enjoyed it a lot when i played it. Also don't compare it to DAO, 2 quite different games and heck, genres.

I'm not comparing to DAO.

So, what you mean to say is that if I kept playing the battle would feel non-wonky and the game would run smoothly ? And the interface would improve as well ? Laughing

lol @ poor man's ragdolls and animations btw
