weirdo! my 9700 worked like a charm, no problems or whatsoever. Yep, something else might be the reason for that behavior. Got an X800 XT now, stuff is fairly cheapo here in the US. Ordered an X800 XT PE for my dad for 500 bucks. Smile

a couple of US dealers have them in stock already, like monarchcomputer.com - bought my dad's card there.

The x800 xt is a powerful card, i owned one until i clocked the hell out of the card and it finally ripped apart... Sad
Now i´m having an albatron 6800 Ultra running with innovatek´s NV-40 watercooler clocked to 490/1300 Mhz.
I´d say that the difference in performance between the two cards is negligible, but ps 2.0 performance on my x800 was slightly better than on my 6800 Ultra now due to the higher core-clock of the ati card i think.

yeah that´s right, hopefully it will endure extreme OC longer than my ati- modded a leadtek Bios to 1.5v in 3d applications and got rid of the fucking lame albatron bios the card was shipped with when i got it. btw- disabling fastwrites is nescessary to run games or benches without freezes, i also had to synchronize 2d to 3d speeds. But with this few tweaks my Ultra runs great Smile
You´re in the states for school exchange or what?

quite interesting cos I think the bios of my X800 XT is a crappy one too. Man, using the v4.12 drivers I could not even activate ATi Overdrive without causing the memory to crash big time. 5.1 is somewhat better, I can push it to 520 but that's it. The core goes to PE speeds w/o a problem. I beleive it's some kind of bios lock, prolly low voltage... anyway I'm not going to fry it messing around with it since the card performs quite well at default clocks.

And no... no school exchange, I work here Smile
