Welcome to next-gen gaming. >_<

The Witcher, UE3 releasing their engine for free, Dragon Age, L4D (even tho it was late as fuck)

The big titles that don't suck dick seem to be getting the editors, so I don't see it as a case of next gen gaming, I see it as a case of worthless companies.

And I'm sad to admit, EA is regaining my respect.

Well, there are always exceptions, of course. But the fact this is now the norm, while the cases you mentioned are considered as "pleasant surprises", is what makes it "a case of next gen gaming". Smile

BTW, how is EA regaining your respect? They are the ones that made Valve into cash milking whores with L4D2.

of all the companies that need to wake the fuck up, they did it right with dragon age, they could have pulled their bullshit as normal but they didn't.

Pretty decent CE, let bioware release an sdk, nothing more than a mere disk check, they obviously didn't rush bioware on getting this out as it's polished as fuck.

I own the normal copy and I only bought it originally on principle to support a decision of no DRM, whether my 1 copy would make a diference or not, and the fact they were releasing a toolset.

The game completely caught me off guard and amazed me to see they quit the experiemental mass effect bullshit and went back to there roots and made a game the way the bioware I once knew would make a game.

So with that, I ordered the CE so I now own 2 copies of this game.

But as I understand it, it has serious DLC crap integrated into it. That's not acceptable either. But I agree, that's the lesser of all evils when it comes to "next gen gaming". BTW, there was nothing experimental in ME, it was a great, solid game.

And guess what? Even people with the pirated version are buying the DLC for it.

I have no problem with DLC. Nobody forces people to buy it. Especially with a game like Dragon Age. Hell, Neverwinter Nights had DLC too. Big fucking woop.
Don't want DLC? Fine. Wait for the modding community to make some shit with the toolset.

I can see where The Sims 3 and such that DLC is overboard. But I don't see it with Dragon Age and I didn't see it with Neverwinter Nights.

Gah, screw you guys! I can see where all THREE of you have points. *grumble* Personally? I think Mass Effect is, and was, fucking AWESOME. Dragon Age is quite simply one of the best RPG experiences I've had in donkey's years .. and while DLC is a sinister cancer eating its way into our games, I reckon the DLC for Dragon Age has been superb --- bar, of course, the ridiculous bullshit of having specific items/DLC available only to specific vendors.

dunno where you got that from, I've not been bothered by the DLC one bit, the online profile is cool, whatever, doesn't hinder me the slightest bit, the DLC I did get was free with the game, wasn't an issue getting it. I don't plan on buying more DLC, I think it's stupid and will it affect me? nope.

I hope they weren't complaining about the game itself. You can like mass effect all you want, it may have been a great game, I have nothing against it, but it wasn't the bioware I grew up knowing, and I haven't liked bioware since KOTOR.

Dragon Age is simply, bioware, old school bioware, the Bioware that made themselves notorious for rocking at what they do. If anyone doesn't like dragon age then I see them as not being fans of their past and that's fine, they can go play sacred 2 where all the side missions are collecting prize winning chickens and favorite cow shit.

Only reason I want to buy DLC is to have more stuff to pull from within the toolset. That was the only reason i bought all the expansions for NWN. Of course, after a while, the community had some pretty awesome stuff.
I am hoping the same thing happens with this.

And, we will soon be warned for being off topic me thinks.

I dont care about DLC either but it is stupid and it is affecting everyone that does not care about it. How? All this time they spend making 10 DLCs they could have made a great expansion that i would care about Sad

Not only this, but they often cut stuff that normally should be in the game. I mean, what, you think DLC that is ready 10 days after release is really made after the game is developed? Who are they kidding? It's a content that could have and should have been in the game from the start, for free.

Most major devs these days have seperate DLC teams. Sure they could integrate those in the game, but they have to confine the game too. A game can always be bigger and better, but there is a point where a dev has to say "this is my game, nothing more". Sure some publishers abuse DLC's, there ar alot of examples, but that is hardly the case with Dragon Age. Even if you don't buy the DLC, you'll still have one of the greatest adventures that'll last 50+ hours. Besides, most gamers seem anal about getting every single DLC. Dragon Age as an example again. Why would you need every single small bonus item?

I dont like respawning enemies either and I'd happily give up on some loot just so that dead enemies can stay dead.. Action rpgs work the way developers want it to work -> see Divinity 2

Agree 100%.
I even bought Dragon Age. Me buying a SP game, published by EA. I thought I would never see that day.

I have to admit, they did everything right with that one. It's like Stardock said a while back. No better way to fight piracy than to respect customers.

I do hoep that Dragon Age sells well on the PC.

BACK ON TOPIC:
Borderlands has a really awesome wepon generator. But that's pretty much the only unique feature I found in the game.
I got tired of it really fast.

The first in a series of downloadable content packs for the multi-platform game will arrive on November 24 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, priced at $9.99 USD or 800 Microsoft Points, depending on how you spend. Details on the same content for the PC version were not provided, but 2K Games reps say "We will have more information for the PC version at a later date."

Was this posted? I don't know..

What? You might think that Valve is a cash milking whore and I can't be bothered arguing with you about how wrong you are but WTF does EA have to do with the release of L4D2? EA is just the retail distributor of Valve's products since 2005.

And then like you peoples were all like, "YOU IS TROLLIN!" and I was like "I AM NOT TROLLING!! I AM guess_who_kthxbai YOU SEE! Mm!"

Meh. "More information at a later date." Those fuckers know what they're gonna do, they just don't want to share it with the rest of us.

Or maybe they'll surprise me and release it as a free patch (ahhh hahahaha!) and irritate the console version owners. I won't hold my breath.

Sad

just read that, and with that, I'm done with this game, I shed a tear for my dollars that lost their lives Sad lol

PC UI and bugs and oversights were a joke, still no fucking patch while consoles had one the first week, now the "DLC" unmentioned for pc, gearbox can go stick it.
