Seeing as how I make love to my wife at least twice a day, I'd say my life is pretty stress-free thanks. I'm happy and relaxed and thoroughly enjoying life.

I'm not even interested in the game that much in the first place, let alone tinkering with xml files to fix a useless developer's mistake.

I probably, maybe, would have liked it - which is why I downloaded it; but you know what my luck is like with games, if a game has a glitch for "some people" then it invariably will glitch for me. As I said, this is 2009 - there's no reason for a new game to exclude resolutions.

whoa...this game certainly surprised me with all the nudity. what's with the hero's private? is he neutered or something?

anyway, i can't draw worth snot. so i gave up and uninstalled the game. the theme of color and what not in the game just doesn't appeal to me (using a tree to grow color...wtf?). it's bizarre but does have some nice atmosphere. the character model could use some more work. they look like old poser 3 era character models. Sad

started playing it today... jeez.. if you were 5 years old, and this game was your father, itd be the kind of parent that'd take you down to the swimming pool, throw you in the deep end, flip you off, say fuck you, then bugger off to the bar for a couple of beers... MAYBE coming back in 4 hours to see how you were doing.

a.k.a. a game with little to no hand holding (at least after the beginning), something which has to be positive in these days of huge quest markers and "LOL do this u moron"-kind of journal entries.

Yeah, it's unlike anything you've played before, but has got a GREAT art design, as well as the genuine will to bring on the table something interesting and innovative. I'll definately try it as soon as I can. Like Pathologic by the same sh (which was a good and incredibly atmospheric c&c-intensive fps/adventure with a bit of survival in the mix) it isn't a masterpiece, but it's still very good.

ok what the dealy... around period 10 or 11 that mantis dude got pissed at me, and challenged me to a duel... cant figure out how to beat him, and if i just ignore him for a minute he just stops doing ANYTHING, and throwing colour at him doesnt even register anymore. WHAT. THE. MOTHER. FREAKIN. DEALY.

am i going to have to restart the game...

i like challenging and thought provoking games... but this game is just TOO unforgiving i think... the fun in a game comes from learning/trying shit out. this game seems to throw a big sulk the second you step out of line Sad its starting to ruin my enjoyment of the game...

im thinking i might as well... i never play games with cheats, but this might be a first for me... it seems to take an 'explore and discover' approach to gameplay, then punish you when you try to do that... such a pity Sad

first few times i died only to realize what happened after i saw the main menu again..

heh, after getting out of the first chamber and seeing those circles in the lower left corner, i tried clicking around and found out a small slider next to them. played a bit with it, only to find out that it makes the time flow faster. needless to say i enjoyed my discovery for about 20 seconds, before dying because of it Embarassed

it would be so much better if it would have a save button, but no.. there's just the stupid autosave. if they want people to enjoy discovering stuff for themselves, then why punish them for it? dying every couple of minutes and having to restart the game is frustrating and tiring. such a bad design decision..

Ummm, there is a save button, but you can only save in the "map" area.
And of course you die if you make the time flow faster. It's because your heart runs out of colour...hence your sister warning you for playing with the time. Very Happy

i think the thing is that the game is awfully vague about shit. i managed to figure a lot of stuff out for myself, but reading forums n shit, apparently putting different colours in your heart leads to the sisters requiring less colour to open their hearts n shit.. i had no fucking idea about that... i could never get to the second mine because i could never find enough fucking colour for the second chick...

game just reminds me of those rpg/adventure games... where everything makes COMPLETE sense in the minds of the developers...well of course it does, they MADE it, but everyone else is confused as hell.

Much is also explained in the journal you have access to so check there.

For example you will see what the colors do, how much color is available and what effects it has, also explains about the sisters and brothers of the void and your current task so it's very useful and important. Smile

Game requires extreme levels of patience.Everyone makes the mistake and starts without even reading carefully the journal for colours and sisters. This is because we are used to the casual-console type games lately-> Go there, take this, come back or continue.
I like this kind of games that throw you in the middle of nowhere and you have the freedom to mess up while experimenting gameplay mechanics.I loved Pathologic too.

well thats the thing though... those kinds of games are fine IF they allow you to find your own style - ie, are completely free-flow games. but this game has a LOT of rules unfortunately. but i see the point. the style of the game WOULD be ruined if it were presented in any way OTHER than this. its supposed to feel strange and uncertain and surreal...

overall, the problems with the gameplay are a victim of the type of game it IS. no other style would fit this game, so its a case of 'it aint perfect, but its how its gotta be..'

Completely agree with you chiv.I just love this genre of games which have this artistic approach like The Path,Pathologic and some other indie games. As i grow old i lose quickly interest in mindless fun games and look for more depth+art in my "gaming life".

Now you got me interested, what games were you referring about? Also, I praise the developers for having the balls to make a game that definately DOES NOT hand-hold you throughout like the majority of games do nowadays (RPGs in particular, look at all those moronic huge quest pointers). In this sense, it reminds me of those old RPGs where you had to figure out by yourself what to do, and had an immense sense of satisfaction when you started seeing you were progressing the right way.

Also, how nonlinear is this game? Does it allow you to make different choices and alter the story/gameworld/npcs in any way? I seem to recall I read somewhere you're allowed to gain one of six endings: are they determined from story paths/branches/choices you make during the game or are they a choose-your-adventure style last-minute choice a la Deus Ex (loved that game, but could have been a little less linear storywise).

EDIT:

Sold right there.
If the game i even half as good as portrayed here, this is GOTY material for sure.

"Ini" (XML actually.) config files are located in the following folder.
C:\ProgramData\Ice-Pick Lodge\Void
(renderer, sound and controls if I remember correctly.)

As for the nudity those particle effects represent the chains or bonds or whatever that binds the sisters, they'll break with enough dedication.
(There was a patch for the Russian version to alter the particle effect but it won't work on the English/German edition.)

(I posted a few screens of the effect earlier.)
