I got in an email earlier today that my CE edition (tin) has been shipped here in Denmark from GAME and they send me another email just now with an unlock code for... I believe the Guild Master Belt which seems to be a GAME exclusive.

So I am playing this on hard and I'm really enjoying myself with challenging (But but not Impossible) gameplay, that's until I hit the Tower of Ishar, suddenly the game became impossible. Me and Alistair plus 2 soldier are getting our asses handed to us every time (i'm a mage), and what's up with the tactics? I have tried several variations, but the only 2 things that happens is: my guys are doing nothing unless hit with melee attacks or they charge headless into those Archers.
I have tried about 5 times now, so I'm gonna take a break and hopefully someone can help me.

Seems I have run into a problem.
Im dallying around looking for the good brother and his urn, but my main char is level 13 and has stopped earning new exp.
The other guys get xp and level fine, but his just say Level 13 8500 xp to 14 and no matter what happens he gains nothing, I even tried using the Dev cheats to add party xp, everyone else gets it and he remains the same.
Any idea of why ?

maul_inc: If you have to, just turn off tactics and control them yourself. Lots of pausing, but worth it if they're acting like fools.
I had fun in the tower, Spoiler: | Alistair was picked up and torn apart by the guy at the end. Looked awesome. Then my guy (warrior) finished the ogre off by running up his body and stabbing him in the face. It was beautiful. |

OK, I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy the DD edition. Any suggestion between steam, ea store, and D2D? I already bought a couple of things off EA store. Steam as well but sometime I worry that with Steam it may take longer for patches and be more difficult for modding later (files structure etc). Thanks

Spoiler: | Some things you could try: For every character in your party, you set up that they take a potion if HP drops to <50%. Furthermore, look above the Ogres head. When it says hurl, run towards him. When he does his sweeping attack, run away. Use the pause function alot and keep casters/archers away at all times. If you have healing spells you can set up rules for those, too. It would probably be wise to use at least one of the soldiers as an archer and to keep that one near to your mage. If the Ogre somehow tries to attack you, you can send the soldier with melee equip towards him as a distraction.
Just don't give up, keep trying it on hard. The kill is so immensly satisfying and we wouldn't want you to feel like a pussy afterwards because you couldn't resist changing the difficulty level, would we?
Good luck |

Spoiler: | What worked for me was, the ogre focuses his attack mainly on one person..what you do is, when you see he targeted someone, pause game, select that char..and run around the room..you party will shoot from distance..tilll he changes target again..and repeat till done! |

Sure, it protects very well against arrows, but everything else hits almost as hard with or without the shield, the active shield abilities help a LITTLE but hardly enough to be worthwhile compared to focusing on pure damage adding skills. I wish there was a way for me to respec (yes, I know, respecs are for loosers blablablabla), I'd go two handed instead, or at the very least not focus on shield abilities. And there's no way I'm redoing the whole warrior thing and replaying 7 hours with my warrior just to use two handed instead. |
You're probably not using the shield skills properly. Some of them are really powerful. With the shield bash ability for example you can knock down almost any normal enemy.

OMG I only have a few potions left. I'm so dead
I wonder if I can leave to get some more... |
I used all the light and normal potions I had battling it.
But it was worth it, it drops one full set of studded leather tier 7 and one full set of heavy plate tier 7, plus some about 4-5 weapons. You should be able to defeat it faster with Wynne in your party.

You'll get some books that help you get those specs, and some NPC's too. You ought to get farther into the story for it.

Anyone gotten shale (the stone golem) yet? He is the most badass party member ever.
Spoiler: | Asking if his armor makes him look fat I lol'd pretty hard. I also had a conversation between him and morrigin where he was telling her she should become a golem as her shape shifting thing. That was also pretty funny. I love the way he makes loud pounding noises when he runs. |

For the DLC, i've read there is no work around for the larger ones that need activation. I wasn't sure but for ones i've downloaded and installed they show in the downloaded content and say 'Enabled' (Stone prisoner for example) ... does it say that for everyone who's tried it... but not really work unless activated?

question for those who play as magin:
how many points you invest to cunning? Wonder even if this skill is required for magin since in the description stands that this skill is rather for rogues.

I hear its needed to get past certain missions (maybe just side quests) and for different persuasion tactics -- ie, gives you more options in your conversations...

Yes. Setting the RequestAuthorization value to 0 only seems to change the frontend.

Ok, downloaded and installed it.. and it looks pretty cool.
I grabbed the dlc version 2 post... it says:
These addins are straight from the source, just run the unpackager that comes with Dragon Age, and replace the
AddIns-file in Settings with this one, and you will be golden.
So where do the zip.001, zip.002 ect and xlm files go?

I've gotten up to kissing Morrigan so far, you just have to play along in conversations and answer the questions etc like she would. She isn't exactly a good person, you'll have to be a little evil.

I had no idea Claudia Black was in this game as Morrigan. The second I heard her the game became twice as interesting. The little convos that she and Alistair have are probably the best thing about the game. Without the humour it's just another fantasy RPG.
Alistair is a terrible fighter (curse of the sword and shield, I'm learning) and Morrigan spends half of each battle running around trying not to get hit by the one creature that insists on targeting her. But, I get the feeling the game would go seriously downhill the moment I take either of them out of the party.
Somehow I don't think my Wardog (Smileychops) and Mr Boring (looks Drow-ish) would make as interesting a set of companions.
I might have to put it down to easy just to avoid the horror of having to start again.
