Easy is just that easy. Why would you want to play on easy at all? That'd get boring fast.

think of it like reading a book. Imagine selecting a difficulty before reading it, select easy and you can just breeze through the book and take in the story...
hard being written in 4 different languages and mixed up.

THANK YOU! Mate, that's exactly it. Personally, I don't give a rat's ass about anyone that whines at me "easy is no fun!!111" because to me, and I'm the one playing the games, I dictate what is fun and what isn't :D |
it's a bad analogy though, because for a book the story is all there is to it, but a game is more than just story. that's like saying that dragon age is a visual novel and increasing the difficulty switches up letters and shit in the text. that makes no sense. lol
easy is fine if you want no challenge and just experience the story, but playing on harder difficulties makes you consider more options and delve deeper into the gameplay than you would if it wasn't required of you.
just like the witcher, where you could pretty much ignore alchemy if you play on easy or normal, while on hard you needed to think about what potions to use when and beeing prepared at all times.
just makes it a lot more interesting if you're not afraid of a challenge.

Interesting topic, difficulty of the game and repleyability affected by it. When i started playing games, back in '94-'95, i allways chose normal, when the option was available, idk why, i guess at first i never wanted to think of myslef as incompetent or something, and as stupid as it was, i was only 11 yrs old, and didnt realy have a clue about gaming, and the games were different kind of difficult back then.
As i got more serious about gaming, normal diff. was a must, but since '04-'05, times of first Kotor, Bloodlines, Deus Ex 2 and up to now, i started every game on hard. Sadly, even on hard, some games were too easy.
Will start on hard in Dragon Age as well, though im sure to have at least 2-3 playthroughs, cause this is a game in which, obviously, character choice, choices while playing and interacting with the NPCs and the world, make much more difference, then simply upping the actual difficulty.
Then again, to each his own, i guess ppl that play on normal first will certanly have even more to discover on 2nd playthrough on hard, i think it would 'ruin' my first time, if im not chalenged enough

I always play on normal. This whay I can kill the lower level enemies while the biggerones and the bosses pose abit of a challenge so you need to think before starting a fight.
I hate it when aving to prepare for every fight, hence why I avoid hard.
Dont mess with God, he can impregnate your girlfriend/wife without taking his pants off!

Then why not just read a book? Story isn't something games are spectacularly good at.

Im your exact opposit, (thank god).
I love the chaos and panic of a no winnable battle, and the rush when all bloody and bruised,the party are the only ones left standing, because they were very well prep, dev, and geared. Tactics did their major job too. great feeling.
never happened by playing on easy for sure.
