Ahahaha just found this post on Xbox official forums:
"I received a 2 week suspension. Probably for playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 early. and after those 2 weeks i still couldnt connect to xbox live so i called the support who said that i was banned. I havent done anything wrong, on my profile i stated that i was homosexual and if that is offensive you can give me a 2 week suspension and ill remove the statement and leave my info blank. But a permanent ban is overdoing it. Ive spent countless hours on that profile and wont accept this. There must be someone i can talk to about this matter. (GT: Mr Valle)"
Yeah right, they banned you cause you put homosexual in your profile....ROFLMAO....Ballad of Gay Tony is out, they'll ban that too =)

Actually, it's happened before. I remember reading that some dyke was banned for having something about being a homosexual in her bio.

way i see it if you play copys online expect to be banned ... ms arent daft and its the risk u take .. ive been banned b4 but n opoint crying about it especially with the money u save on buying games

We won't know for sure until the preview program starts and some brave users with these devices test the waters.
10/26/09 UPDATE - Good news...early reports from users in the NXE Preview Program indicate that "hacked' 120GB internal drives still work fine on the new dashboard. It appears they are only targeting unofficial 3rd party memory cards, but obviously that could change at any time.
In even better news, iXtreme 1.61 is currently being worked on for all drives to add support for new wave4 games. There is still no ETA but it's good to know it's already in the works. Also, the team behind abgx360 has announced that they will be releasing version 1.0.2 with wave4 support in the near future. The release of abgx360 1.0.2 will probably coincide with the release of iXtreme 1.61. |

My friend have a little problem with Wave 4 games so maybe someone can help him.
I patched GTA and MW2 to Wave 2. Games works like a charm here on my console that got banned a month ago. My friend borrowed both discs but when he tried them on his 360, both games asked to update and of course the updating doesnt work.
So why on my end it never asked to update and it did on his end?
Is this update available for manual update via a thumbstick?

So that's it, it all gone quiet... No one actually cares that ban from Xbox Live bricks your Xbox HDD? Banning from Live is one thing, but rendering HDD useless is a bit over the top, no? Can they even do it legally? I mean I understand banning from Live, it's their service and all, but YOU own the hardware and you can do whatever the fuck you want with it, not they.
Anyone remember interview with some guy who worked on xbox dev or something, he talked about xbox kill switch and everyone laughed at him, I guess it's not so funny any more

I have a simple and maybe stupid question but never saw some1 asking it that way before:
Is it possible to get banned/have people been banned that never play/ed anything online and just get the microsoft updates/roster updates ( sports games ) from Live when they are prompted do download an update?

the new update thats on MW2 add things AVATAR PRIZES and a extra ban prize(they disable the hdd install if your banned....)
well it only corrupts your profile so you can't install on it
the funny is when you delete the banned profile (saves included) and make a new one HDD install works again for all  LULZ

Having a modded console and connecting to live can get you banned, doesn't matter what you do.

do it and test it ,done it on 5 banned consoles from my stupid friends that did the wave 2 trick on wave 3 games and it works
and oh boy Glottis learn to read , i am not writing about the locked profiles to your console (like i are for achievements and shit), i am writing about how to enable HDD install on a banned console

The latest uypdate did not introduce the HDD block. This was done with the previous update and I reported it here weeks ago but unfortunately no one seemd to believe it. It does not damage the HDD at all. Your saves and profile will still work on your banned 360 but you cannot use them on a different 360 as they are corrupted as far as the unbanned machine is concerned. The HDD will work perfectly fine on another 360 though if you recover your gamertag on that but you lose your saves. Basically, whatever you do on the banned 360, stays on the banned 360.
Also, you can no longer instal games to the HDD on a banned 360 that has this new "feature".
MS really fucked us over this time.

So it's real then...? Well, I hope MS fucking burns for this. They get sued billions for including their own, free, software in their own OS - so I can only imagine what's going to happen to them once the consumer rights organisations realise that MS are purposely damaging users hardware just for breaking the T&C of an online service.

They don't damage your hardware. The HDD will still work perfectly well on an unbanned 360 once you recover your gamertag. All that they are doing is removing a feature.

You lose everything. But I think that it would be rather difficult to argue your point in a court of law considering that you have modified the console with the intent to use it to play "backups" regardless of whether or not you actually legally own the games that you are using it to play. I'm pretty sure that copying even your OWN games is againt the T&C of your licensing agreement anyway which could be used by MS as a counter.
But anway, getting back to reality, no one is going to go to all of that trouble and go up against the most powerfull company in the world for the sake of installing 360 games to the HDD on their console.

Umm... courts have overridden T&C plenty of times in the past, mate. Just because it's in the T&C, doesn't make it "legal" - and plenty of court judgements have ruled in favour of the consumer as the average T&C practically goes against every consumer right. As for proving the case in a court of law? As I said; modchipping isn't illegal in the EU, so the rights - once again - lay with the consumer and not the conglomerate organisation.
