Hi,
I have a question about these items called "class mods". I am wearing one enhancing some skills, but on the skill screen the related skill levels seem the same, I cant see any addition to these values. I have already spent points to the related values,so the are not greyed-out. but there is no change if I am wearing the mod or not...
are the really working or are they bugged?
has anybody the same problem?
thx

Yeah they work as long as you have at least 1 pt. in the relevant skills.

you can edit the FOV to give yourself whatever you want. |
Cool, can you direct me to the files and what to alter in those files?
Thanks!

someone found a way to make the game harder
Quote: | Ok, after ranting about the game being too easy, i finally found a simple solution that works!
Warning: you need a decent computer to pull this off, i can do really fine on my q6600 dual core and ATI 4870x2, 2 gigs ram
Alternatively, you can use a laptop with the same game setting as the main comp.
Follow these easy steps
1: Select difficulty
Open ..\documents\my games\borderlands\willowgame\config\willowgame.ini
and edit the line
GameDifficulty=+1.0
to whatever player simulation you want, minus 1.
If you want to play as if there were 2 players, simply leave it to 1. If you want to play as 4 player, set it to three (like i did). I think it works up to +6 or +5, for a simulation of up to 6 or 7 players, but i have not tested it.
Open the file ..\borderlands\engine\config\basegame.ini
and again modify the difficulty line the same as before.
Note: I change both values because i do not know if the game looks at the documents' or game folder's file. I think it's the documents' one, but im not sure.
2: Backup
Make a backup of the save files before you attempt to play the game like im going to explain. Create another level 1 character if you only have 1 character, then play the tutorial until you can save. This is to skip the intro movie on the new players.
Saves are in ..\documents\my games\borderlands\SaveData\
3: Play
Start the game as usual, select LAN game, select your main character and open a room.
Alt-tab out of the game, restart the game a second time. Select LAN, join your session#1 game with another character, preferably a level 1, then click ready. If you join with the same character twice, there are HIGH CHANCES the savegame will become corrupt
Alt-tab back to session#1, click Start game. Once you've loaded (this can take a while depending on cpu/available ram), you can alt tab to session #2 and kill the client with alt-f4.
Et voila, the game is now saved to whatever difficulty you set, until you close the game.
It takes a minute or two to setup, each time you start the game. Unpractical if you leave the game often or like to farm boxes.
Note: If you have a low-end pc, your windows may crash. Try lowering resolution, and setting details that dont need the game to be rebooted to take effect to low. This way you can save some cpu power and let the game run.
Hope this can help people like me, who'd like a REALLY difficult game. |

i finally beat the game. it took over 9 hours ignoring most of the side missions to do. this game is okay. i don't like the constant re-spawning of the enemies (bandits, skags, spiderants, rakks, etc.). it makes the world somehow less persistent. i wished there was a way to destroy the spawn centers (caves, huts, etc.) but alas you cannot.
i like the variety of weapons in the game. i played as the Lilith (her phasewalk really helps to beat the game as fast as possible). driving vehicles is a plus in the game.
i like the boss battles. after you beat the last boss, the game allows you to continue on after the end credits. anyway, i plan to go back and do all the side missions. maybe even try again using a different character.

You can change the backpack limit via WillowGame.ini but this does affect other things as well such as it'll still increase when you "rescue" those claptrap robots and it can't be decreased due to it being stored in the savegame, modded the weapon slots that way myself which kinda bugged my character as I can carry six extra guns (Forgot to take into the account of the four base slots, was trying for seven one for each type.) but I can't access them outside of stores or scrolling trough the mouse wheel a bit since the actual slots are invisible, even more of a annoyance as weapons are auto-equipped if there are slots available but it's manageable.
EDIT: Or via savegame editor as linked to earlier.

This game really shines in coop...
Wish more games had that, and wish they revived coop on the PC.

I beat Sledge at level 17 with MY BARE HANDS. I'm playing as Brick by the way, his berserk skill is so strong with an artifact, whenever some enemy bothers me i push them into a corner and beat the living crap out of them; Sledge hit me non-stop with his hammer but I barely lost any hp

Is there any way to increase the character walk speed? It is too slow. I saw many possible entries in the relevant .ini files, but changing them did not seem to do anything.

It will get you everywhere really fast until you get to the point when you can use cars.

You can choose to start playtrough 2 from the new game option with your current character or just roam around doing any remaining quests or hunting for better equipment.
